Here are a few shots for everyone. I'll get some in the morning when Epic arrives. What I have to go through to get pictures up! I'm taking a picture, transferring it to my ipad, plugging my ipad into my laptop (no sd card reader), and then uploading my pictures through my blackberry tethered to my PC. Feeling uber-geeky right now. Once Fotki gets an ipad app I won't have to do this anymore.

OMG! I work in IT for one of the Big 4 accounting firms in NYC and consider myself uber-geeky as well...especially when it comes to BlackBerry's (I'm the SME //Subject Matter Expert// for the NE) and YOU JUST CONFUSED ME!! LOL

Not that it matters but taking a picture on a digital camera --> iPad with the SD card reader $30 accessory --> syncing iPad to laptop via iTunes to get photo --> then uploding to Fotki using your BB tethered modem as your Internet connection..............................OK, it made sense when I wrote out the above, but was there no Wi-Fi free in the hotel?? Being in a Junior Suite?? On the Hilton Honors club floor?? In the lobby or atrium for the iPad to connect?? I'm assuming you didn't get the 3G model or just wanted to keep costs down using the BB tethered modem...like my work reimburses me $75/month for my BB data $60 + tethering feature $15 that I only use 1x/month. Or if you had a Droid Incredible or Droid X you're there's an app so you're phone emulates a Wi-Fi hotspot over 3G. It would be slow if 3-5 connections split 0.80mbps 3G but with the rollout of Verizon's 4G LTE in 20 markets by end of 2010 that should improve to 5-12mbps (supposedly) granted you have a 4G LTE device or Mobile Broadband card.

...I used to be a part-time retail sales rep for Verizon Wireless in college, LOL.

I still have not activated the 3G feature on the 32MB iPad but plan on on Sept 1st so 9/11 when we're heading to EWR --> MIA airports --> Port of Miami I won't have to depend on Wi-Fi.

Peace all...

Yes, The ship docks down on one of the last piers, because of its size, But this last trip they had a bus that ran back and forth from the ship to the terminal. from the terminal its just about 2 blocks along the water front. They now have tents selling goods along the waterfront to, so you can look as you head toward the staw market. Every time I go to Nassau I have to walk the strawmarket.

Jroadz - got the 3G version and connection, but there is no iPad app for fotki yet. They have it for the droid OS but not apple yet. The hotel had free wifi but it would have required that I go down to the lobby, so I used tethering. Btw, I used to work for PW (12 years) and KPMG (5). :)

On the ship! First impression. Huge ship with lots of walking needed. 14th deck is a maze. Hallways are painfully narrow. Rooms are microscopic. I will not let in dampen our good time but holy cow! Love the bathroom layout though, but our bed is closest to the door and we have already had two traffic jams at the bed.

Cabin steward is slow (marcello) but hopefully he will pick up the pace.

Time for the pools!

Thanks for the updates and the photos. Have a great cruise!

I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the Epic again this week on the SurfMiami.com webcam as she departs Miami and post a screen grab for you. Unfortunately that webcam appears to be down today. All I get is "Connecting..." for a few minutes followed by "Your connection to the camera has timed out".

Darn!

I just got an alert on my NCL page:

  • Tropical Storm Update (10:30am EST - 07/23/2010)

As the safety and security of our guests is the utmost importance, we are closely monitoring the path of Tropical Storm Bonnie. At this time, Norwegian Sky's July 23 cruise and Norwegian Epic's July 24 cruise are sailing as scheduled. We will update the site should itinerary changes occur.

Ok folks! We just left Miami! We found room for all our stuff finally, and the ac works great. We opened up the balcony barriers between our three rooms and we now have a giant balcony. :) the muster drill was easy as we just had to go down to Bliss and did not need our life vests. The view of Miami Beach on the way out is awesome!

Love the bathroom layout. Sink splash is not a problem. Going to have the mini-bar emptied and the coffee setup removed to save space. See you all in a week! This is awesome!

The weather is clear and hot. No issues except the heat. Once we got moving it felt a lot better!

Still in range? :)

Ok... Sinks are fine. I cannot even get mine to splash. It's a non-issue. The rooms with the bed by the balcony not only feel bigger but are also more conveniently laid out and have a little more overhead storage.

We just passes into deep water and even in calm seas I can feel the gentle movement up on 14. I also have to say they did a great job with lighting. Lots of lights. Lots of controls. Even little reading lights. Very nice indeed. Bathroom and shower stalls are ample sized. All in all a great start after my initial panic about the room size. Now that things are put away it feels much better. Will be better still when the people in the hall settle down :)

Boy voyage again

Have a wonderful time, Mike & Family!

Looking forward to your 'take' on the ship....geeze, even you say it's HUGE...guess it is really big! lol

This is especially interesting to me, as we're booked on 14th deck (spa suite) and going Western....

I will definitely be 'stalking' .. if not everyday, I will be catching up regularly!

Thanks for all the great photos so far and the updates! Keep 'em coming...but not too much to spoil your trip! We'll all be here when you get back! :D
