tobymonster Posted July 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2010 Hi everyone, I just joined the site. My husband and I just booked a Western Caribbean cruise on Celebrity in October. He's been on cruises before when he was a kid, but I've never been on one. I'm really excited! I look forward to getting lots of great tips on here :-) -Toby
paul929207 Posted July 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2010 Welcome to Cruise Critic. I assume you have not joined the Roll Call for your cruise. It is a great way to meet some of the people who will be sailing with you. To join, go to the boards menu and scroll down to Roll Calls. Click on Celebrity. Then click on your ship. Finally, click on the thread for your sailing.
cb at sea Posted July 2, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2010 Get the cruise brochure, if you don't have it, so you can pour over the deck plans! And, a guidebook will really enhance your shore time....libraries have them, or you can buy one at any bookstore! You may find things that interest you that don't require those pricey excursions! tobymonster Posted July 3, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks for all the welcomes! I just figured out the roll call thing and joined that one too. Thanks for the suggestion :-)
cruiseaholic777 Posted July 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2010 Celebrity is one of the best cruise lines toby. The food and the service are top of the line. It is not the best line for kids, they cater to an older crowd. You will have a great time, cruising is the best. I have been on 8 cruises and no. 9 is booked for nov.;)
tobymonster Posted July 3, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks! One of the reasons we chose Celebrity is that it caters to a more adult crowd. I'm hoping we won't be the youngest by far on the ship, but we are also looking forward to it being less of a "family" crowd, since we don't have kids yet. :-)

Thanks, Edward Edward, Welcome to Cruise Critic. You may want to visit the Alaska section in "Ports Of Call". There is a lot of good information there. wwcruisers Posted July 5, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2010 Toby -- welcome to cruisecritic and X! :D You've gotten some great advice on this thread, so far. In addition to the suggestion to pop over and check out the thread for your roll call, I'd also suggest checking out the "ports of call" and "home port" boards. :)
