AlanR2 Posted July 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2010 We are considering booking Silver Whisper for our first cruise on SS. Have enjoyed Seabourn in the past plus numerous Princess, RCCL, etc. The big question for me is Veranda Suite on deck 9 or deck 6. Any thoughts? We are planning Carrib. next March. Thanks in advance. Emtbsam Posted July 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2010 We prefer Deck 9 because of the proximity to the pool and the fact that it is very quiet. It is possible that you might feel slightly more motion on Deck 9 than on Deck 6.
ronjo Posted July 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2010 For us it would be deck 6, mid ship veranda. It's close the everythig and very little movement
newlondon Posted July 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2010 I second embtsam since the seas should be relatively smooth. Not hurricane season!
patnlcc Posted July 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2010 We chose deck 6 on the Silver Cloud because there were cabins above us and cabins below us, rather than public (therefore potentially noisy) areas. Not so, the cabins are well away from any potential noise. Deck 6 midships will minimise rocking as others have said. Very easy to get around on Silversea ships - nothing is very far away! Wellseasoned Posted July 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2010 We always book mid-ship veranda on deck 6 on the Whisper, for same reasons noted by ronjo. Very stable, easy access to everything while remaining quiet.
wripro Posted July 10, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2010 And I prefer Deck 9 because it's more intimate with far fewer cabins.
AlanR2 Posted July 10, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted July 10, 2010 and there you have it. . .pay your money & take your choice. We usually stay midship but I think I'll go with deck 9 just for the change. It seems like it would be fun to be "on top" and I haven't heard any contraindication like noise, etc. Many thanks all. I believe the cabins on Deck 9 are all considered mid-ship verandas.
TheFerret Posted July 11, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 11, 2010 Yes, it's very easy to get around on the Whisper, and the elevators are very quick to both arrive and to transport you, if you choose to use them. (As I did toward the end of my recent Baltic cruise when the 'ol legs were complaining)
