My Epic experience

Recommended Posts

Bliss lounge was very nice and different. A lot to look at. Interesting decor, sparkly floor. They had a fog machine when you entered that had a video of the people dancing on the dance floor. You had to walk through this fog to get into Bliss.

I did pass by the Ice bar, but never went it. Wear socks!

Did not get to the pool area too much, since this was the only very crowded area on the ship. I am not sure if they kept the kids out. Alert... my 13 year old just said she saw all the kids going in the adult pool even though it was for adults only.

In between the pool area and Great outdoors is where they did Nickelodeon slime time. I did not see one "Nick" character anywhere onboard.

I guess I should have asked my daughter where she thought the adult pool was. I just asked and she said right next to the slides.

Ha! She never even stepped foot in Spice H20 and that was were the actual adult pool was. She thought there was one reserved for adults next to the slide and she never went into it because of it. The pool she saw all the kids swimming in was the family pool.

So I guess they didn't do an good job of keeping the kids out of the adult pool, but an excellent job of not even letting them see it to begin with!! :p

It says in the Daily, Shorts are permitted in all outlets except The Manhattan room, Cagneys, and The Le Bistro after 5:00 p.m. Shoes and shirt must be worn, no tank tops, flip flops or baseball caps!

I would bring at least one pair of shoes just in case. If it is dark enough they may think those sneakers are shoes.

Luckily DH and DS wear same shoe size - so if DS decides to dine in any one of the 3 he'll borrow his dad's shoes! I'll make sure to pack enough collared shirts for DS.

It was the feeling of being inspected that surprised me. I've seen men turned away from the main dining rooms for wearing shorts. After all, it is posted; but it was always done quietly and politely. We enjoy dressing up a bit for dinner in those rooms.

Our Cabin

We love the Aft Penthouses and couldn't wait to see ours. (11321) We walked in and had to put our cabin key card into the slot in order to get our lights functioning. I am still not sure if I like this idea. It is good for the people that forget to turn off the lights when leaving the cabin.

Dawn

Thank you for the review. 11321 is the cabin we have on the 8/28 sailing. I've been looking at the pictures posted from the 2 day sailing as it was one of the 'open for inspection cabins.' Happy to hear good things about the bed. Were the loungers on the balcony or did you have to ask for them? How was the Epic club for breakfast and lunch?

Thanks

Rene

You can wear sneakers in the Manhatten. My daughters only brought flip flops and sneakers, so they had to wear sneakers with all their sundresses:rolleyes:

So do the sneakers have to be a color other than white? Or is white acceptable?

I'm sorry, but I think flip flops with a dress looks nicer than sneakers with a dress. I can't believe they won't let girls where flip flops.

Thanks for your great review. We are in the same cabin in August, so it was really exciting to read your observations. Can you tell me, when you went to see Cirque and BMG, did you use the Butler/Concierge to make your reservations or had you booked in advance? Did you get preferred seating at either show due to the suite? Also, did the suite perks get you into Fat Cats? And, were you able to use the suite perks to get dinner reservations on the day of?

We asked for the loungers on the balcony. The Epic club was very nice for both breakfast and lunch. You will enjoy it.

I booked both Cirque and BMG online.

I did book Cirque premium, but didn't know they sat me in the regular seating by accident. I am sure by now they have this figured all out.

I also chose not to sit in the first couple of rows at BMG. There were plenty of seats available.

No special seating due to the suite. At least as far as I knew. We just walked into Fat Cats without a problem, no perks required.

We did not need any suite perks for dinner reservations. My friend in a regular balcony cabin actually booked "Moderno" (highly recommended) for us without a problem for the following day.

My advice is get to the shows early. At Cirque ask where the "premium" line is. You can ask the Concierge or butler to escort you down if you like, but give yourself at least 45 or more minutes before the shows start.

Have fun!!

Hi Dawn: Did you and your daughter share the bed or were they able to bring a roll-away bed. I have the same room and need two different beds for sleeping. Thanks:

I can't imagine how they can accomodate a second bed or rollaway. We had the same room (12317) and there is not that much space. They would have to remove the two leather chairs and glass table and even then I'm not sure it would work.
