AmberTeka Posted July 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2010 It seems it is book a balcony or just stay home. We have an OV- C booked on the Liberty and I am getting cold feet. IS there anyone out there with a good word for Oceanviews? I thought they were bigger..more space.
pokergirl34 Posted July 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2010 They are definitely bigger...they are the size of the balcony+cabin on the Liberty (not the case on Fantasy or Spirit classes though I think).
cruz.n.carebear Posted July 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I love Ocean Views. It gives you the opportunity to be able to see outside without having to pay the extra for a balcony. I wouldn't worry:)
Rare dsain Posted July 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I had an OV on my Liberty cruise in February and loved it. As previous poster said, you get the daylight and a view without paying for a balcony. We loved our cabin so much we booked the exact same OV for our Liberty cruise in 2011! Enjoy! MamaParrotHead Posted July 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We love our OV...actually it's 6C's we stay in as well. I'd much rather spend my $$ elsewhere. We booked GTY the first cruise, loved the location so much we've booked there three times since.
USNUZULOOSE Posted July 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I dont want a balcony, I really enjoy ov.
kenrod Posted July 22, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2010 All but one of our cruises have been oceanview cabins. We enjoy them very much. Our last cruise was a balcony because we had a good deal, balcony for oceanview price. I do like the balcony, but for we will probably remain with the oceanviews on future cruises. Liffey Posted July 22, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Plus, if this is your first cruise, then you won't be too spoiled when shopping for the second one! :) For our first cruise we changed our minds at the last minute and went from an OV to a balcony. It was wonnnnderful, but I bet we'd have an extra cruise or two under our belts by now if we hadn't developed such a taste for balconies! Have a wonderful cruise and avoid those balcony temptations for as long as you can. ;)
zabnee Posted July 22, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 22, 2010 as much as I enjoyed having our balcony in June, I would not be opposed to staying in an OV again. either one lets you see the sea, and the sunlight in when you want it. and with the OV you can look outside, and not have to peer above/below the railing while trying to avoid the humidity! ;)
Angeleyes1382 Posted July 22, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We loved our OV. We could let the sunlight in when we wanted and close the drapes when we didn't, making it completely dark for nap time. We were on a Conquest class ship and the OV room looked larger than the Interior room. We had a convertible sofa in our room, which was very nice for our son to sleep on. The window had a sort of window seat, which was very nice for putting our towels, and for looking out the window. We're going to be in an interior for our next cruise, so I'll definitely miss the OV. Bunkie103 Posted July 22, 2010 #11 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We've done PTs, OVs and Balconies. In one case the balcony was cheaper than an OV. I would do an OV or a PT rather than stay home.
h_blond2 Posted July 22, 2010 #12 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I love my OV rooms!! You will be fine in one!
beachbum6264 Posted July 22, 2010 #13 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We've been in inside, ocean view, and balcony cabins. We book based on price and how much extra $$ we have (and how many cruises I want to book that year!). As long as I'm on a cruise I'm fine! Rare chasinraynbowz Posted July 22, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We thoroughly enjoyed our OV cabin. We loved our balcony too, but we ended up sending too much time on our balcony and I feel we missed seeing and doing things on the ship. Our next cruise, back to an OV!! conchead Posted July 22, 2010 #15 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Well...those cabins don't go empty. The ship sails full, so someone is in there.;)
grest Posted July 22, 2010 #16 Share Posted July 22, 2010 For our 11th cruise, we are in a balcony cabin, but only because of the very attractive pricing. An inside, outside, anywhere on board is better than not on board and perfectly acceptable.
cuted126 Posted July 22, 2010 #17 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I dont want a balcony, I really enjoy ov. This is me! Balconies are a big waste for me! Love my oceanviews!!!!
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 22, 2010 #18 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I would love an OV, but since I usually sail solo, all I can afford is an inside. I only did a cove balcony on the Dream transAtlantic because it was cheaper than the only inside, a spa cabin! EM
The4Cruisers Posted July 22, 2010 #19 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We do OV's and love them. I don't think I could do an Inside room.
amethyst08 Posted July 22, 2010 #20 Share Posted July 22, 2010 For me...I am not in to cabin long, so a balcony would be a waste. I love the ocean view. There are enough deck chairs and lounge chairs if I want to sit outside though.
LynneL Posted July 22, 2010 #21 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I'm probably out of the norm here (what else is new - lol), but if the balcony price is too high on a particular cruise, then I go with the inside cabin. I'm a very light sleeper and even with drapes closed, as soon as that crack of light peeks thru where the curtains meet....I'm up. If sunlight is going to wake me up early & I can sit out on my balcony for a bit, that's fine...otherwise, keep it dark for me. I'm sure you will love your OV though. My husband thinks the balcony is a total waste of money. Never sits out on it & prefers to donate that $ to the casino.
cjkbleonard Posted July 22, 2010 #22 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We thoroughly enjoyed our OV cabin. We loved our balcony too, but we ended up sending too much time on our balcony and I feel we missed seeing and doing things on the ship. That's what we noticed on our last cruise too (it was our first balcony). We usually participate in a lot more ship activities but this time we spent a lot of time in the room. CRZCRAZY Posted July 22, 2010 #23 Share Posted July 22, 2010 My preference is for the balcony, but I do the OV on the ships that don't have them (except the suites), like the Paradise. I do find I spend more time up on the Lido deck without the balcony.
Sirwinston Posted July 22, 2010 #24 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I have had insides with upper and lower berths(bunk beds), small cabins with small 10 inch portholes, balcony cabins, Aft wrap suites, Penthouse Suites and several outside cabins. I have fun no matter what. Depends on the ship and the budget. This year we spend 15 days in an ocean view on the Elation panama canal repositioning cruise. We had a great time. Spent much more time on lido deck then when we have a balcony. We do enjoy the fresh air when you have a balcony, But not a deal breaker. md10074 Posted July 22, 2010 #25 Share Posted July 22, 2010 We booked an OV for this upcoming cruise. At first, to save money, we were going to get an inside cabin, but then figured that the kids would like to look out a window. The only reason I ended up with a balcony is that I checked the prices every day, and one day a balcony was almost the same price as my OV, and the OV dropped a lot. I didn't book ES so I couldn't get an OBC, so the nice rep at Carnival let me upgrade for free.
