This old dog learned a new "Platinum" trick...

Of course, I knew about LEAVING the ship but RETURNING to the ship was always a gray area BECAUSE....the Security Guards said the "perk" was only one way. Good to know that Platinum folks get this perk BOTH ways.

This was posted on John's blog yesterday....

"I mentioned the Platinum experience earlier and wanted to go back to a question I answered some time ago about the tender priority our Platinum guests are allowed. It was mentioned that there was not a fleet wide directive on this which has now been rectified and I can confirm the following.

DEBARKATION BY TENDER

When you are ready Platinum card holders should go directly to the Guest Services Desk where a Guest Service Associate will arrange a staff member to escort you to the front of the tender ticket line or if a tender ticket system is not being used will take you to straight to the tender.

RETURN TO THE SHIP

Platinum card holders should go straight to the front of the line and show their cards to the security guards who will allow you on the tender."

Not that I've had any problems getting on to a tender from a port but this will be nice...

Can you imagine how tweaked the folks in line will be as the Platinum and above guests just wander up in front of the tender queue?

It will really help on those HOT days when there is no shade!!!

I would imagine that "tweaked" will not BEGIN to describe the comments...:D

I just hope all the Security folks HAVE been properly educated......

If there were only some way to confirm that those security guards knew about this... and sinage would be nice. It won't be fun to irk other pax who don't know! Guess I'll play it by ear next week in Cayman... and will be sure to report my experience here!

It's a very new policy and as such I'd be a bit (pleasantly...) surprised if all of the shore side agents get the word quickly...

Yep, I can imagine. Ecstasy's CD came and got 3 of us Platinum for disembarkation and left us in the line. I had waited upstairs for the annoucement (which never came) and downstairs on Empress people had lined up and were getting off the ship.

We were attacked "you werent in line" when the CD allowed us to come down and join the already in progress disembarkation that we had waited on.

I wish all the ships would do platinum disembarkation .... tenders are only sometimes, but getting off the ship self assist is one area RCL excels in. Carnival doesnt do Platinum special most of the time.

Yes.

I recall years ago when Universal Studios in Orlando started offering 'front of the line access' to guests staying at one of their on site hotels. We were a group of 8 staying at the Hard Rock when it just opened (it was really a nice hotel)...we got to the park, and upon going to our first amusement ride, were ushered in through the back to hop right on. You would not BELIEVE the looks we got. If looks could kill, we'd have certainly been dead on the spot.

It was freaking awesome :D

I agree!! Signs stating the perk would limit the hairy-eyeball.....

Good point, not bad enough on the guest relation desk, now we have another opportunity to jump to the front of the hate parade....

There "may" be a way....

the next 3 cruises are to only docked ports...but come Nov on the Liberty (or maybe it is the Destiny in Dec) .... I think we have some tendered ports.

I am thinking about mentioning it to the head of Security after we board ...just to make sure his folks are "informed"....

couldn't hurt....

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing in August!

LOL - even after all my cruises, I don't think I could pick the head of security out of a lineup on any given ship. :o

Depending on the ship...(best as I can remember) their office is just off the Atrium...either to the left port side just before you go into the main theater....OR to the right (still PORT side) as you go into the main theater.

Don't ask me how I know....

Our group is always escorted to the front of the tender line and we never had anyone get upset.......

If they are implementing it on the return they should have signage.......so at least if the security guard is clueless you can point him in the right direction.......

I was not aware of this perk either until I just read John's blog...Carnival does a nice job of stating perks for Platinum guests but I've never seen this one..must be new..looking forward to using it in October :D I also agree that signage would be helpful..

Would this apply to only the Platinum card holder or the party they are traveling with? I'm almost Platinum (1 more to go after my October cruise) but my parents are only about 1/2 way there. If we are cruising together and I make Platinum, would the tender pirority perk apply to them as well?

I recall that office being on the starboard side headed toward that theater, at least on the Conquet class...

Hello,

Am i understanding this correctly?.......

While getting off or on the ship while in any port, VIP-Platinum guests get front of the line privleges? We are going on the Legend in September, i will have to give this a try!

thank you,

This is how John addressed that in his blog yesterday:

Now, one of the concerns here is that it was reported to me by some ships that the occasional guest was trying to bring a party of 5, 10 or more, none of them whom were Platinum card holders. Obviously we can’t allow this as it is unfair to the rest of the guests. If you have kids in the family who are not platinum then of course that is fine but outside of this we need to keep this a benefit for those who have cruised with us ten times or more. For those guests who have reached Milestone status we will arrange for George Clooney and Megan Fox to put you on their backs and swim you back to the ship.
