liberty080208 Posted July 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2010 I noticed that many people on here talk about purchasing 'beverages' of all types to bring on board the ship. I've been on 6 cruises and soon to be #7 on Oasis, but have never done this. We are thinking about doing it, anyone have advice or can share what you've done? :p
Nanatravel Posted July 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2010 You are actually asking this question on the incorrect forum. Go to your cruise line forum and start there with your question. Then go to the Roll Call forum and your ship and ask there. Different lines have different policies. Overall, bringing liquor/wine/beer is a NO No. However, many people do bring such product on board in either a Carry On bag or checked within their checked luggage. Carnival recently has stepped up its inspection of bags and will confiscate your "stash", if they find it. You may bring bottled water or soda of your choice, again in a tote or checked bag. Princess allows a bottle of wine each person.

We are thinking about doing it, anyone have advice or can share what you've done? :p We were allowed to bring wine on Carnival and had gotten two expensive bottles of champagne for gifts and brought them on no problems. We also packed a fifth of vodka and two other bottles of wine in the dive bag. I think if I had to go to the trouble of putting water in vodka bottles or something that silly I'd skip it but otherwise why not?
cruising twosome Posted July 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2010 NCL allows wine, soda and water. There is a $15 corkage fee per bottle of wine. Check with your cruise line.
Langley Cruisers Posted July 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2010 ...and soon to be #7 on Oasis... Yes, sorry - wrong forum. But this is what you do: RCI does not permit any alcohol of any kind to be brought onboard. Thus, you would be smuggling it on. Feel free to go to the RCI main forum and about half way on the right hand side, you will see a search box called "Search this forum". Type "smuggle" or "alcohol" into that box and you will have your pick of hundreds, perhaps thousands of threads on this subject. Seriously. You'll find all the info you ever wanted. Have fun on Oasis. :)
RuthlessBunny Posted July 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2010 Honestly, is it that important? Rather than deal with smuggling, just save a few buck every week until your cruise. You could tie it to swearing, or some other fun thing. Then take your fund and use it for beverages on your cruise. Between the TSA and the cruise lines, I just don't think it's worth it. sprockie Posted August 10, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2010 I agree, go to the individual cruise line forum because some cruise lines are more aggressive than others in looking for liquor. My mother just sailed on RCCL last year and had an airplane bottle (2 oz) of rum confiscated.
