Cricket63 Posted August 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Ours runs anywhere from $300 and up. Just depends on what we do or buy during the trip.
cb at sea Posted August 13, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2010 We gamble, so we bring cash for that....if and when it's gone, it's gone! You really don't need alot of cash....everything you buy on the ship is charged to your account (and presumably, your credit card). The only cash you'll need is for ashore, room service tips....stuff like that. Bring large bills...easier to carry than a wad of $20's and smaller bills! The ship will break down large bills for you. Edmund DeWinter Posted August 13, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2010 My wife and I brought $100 each in cash, but $80 of it was in $1.00 bills for use in tiping and the like. Very easy to lock up in the safe, as there's not much need for cash itself on board, as we used our S&S cards. I would mention that you should make sure you bring newer bills with you, as some of the places we visited in Cozumel didn't like the older $20.00 bills (counterfit concerns, maybe?). truchattycathy Posted August 13, 2010 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2010 About $300 for tips and excursions I pay cash for in ports.
tak81288 Posted August 13, 2010 #10 Share Posted August 13, 2010 I took $500.00 with me, but set my S&S up as a cash account. Put about $150.00 on the account for ship expenditures and had the rest available for port days and tips.

WOWGirl Posted August 13, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 13, 2010 7 day cruises (family of 5) we take about $800.00 cash. Mostly 10s, 5s, and 1s. At ports we have a problem with so many vendors not having correct change. Therefore we take a lot of smaller bills.
BOUDREAUX Posted August 13, 2010 #13 Share Posted August 13, 2010 My last cruise I had almost $1000.00 on my S&S mostly Booze. I brought 600 all small bills I felt like Vegas rich man...You should have seen the teller at my bank when I walked in and Asked for 600 cash all in 5's and 1's the look was priceless....Hope this helps B
Carolin Posted August 13, 2010 #14 Share Posted August 13, 2010 How much is you S&S usually? my sail and sign is usually around $300. 140 in tips and the rest is bar tab. I bring my two bottles of wine. I do not buy any pictures or go to specialty and I do excursions on my own.
golfadj Posted August 13, 2010 #15 Share Posted August 13, 2010 It depens upon the excursions (private) and how we have arranged to pay for them. Generally $ 200-400 as our sign and sail goes on our cc.
mcfam5 Posted August 13, 2010 #16 Share Posted August 13, 2010 We ordinarily take about $1500 cash for a week, for a family of four. Depending on what cash we have left the last night of the cruise, I take a portion of what remains and apply it toward our S&S balance. I used to love the security and ease of being able to take traveler's checks and cashing them in at the Purser's Desk. But, they are nearly impossible to come by in our area now. cmjb4ever Posted August 13, 2010 #17 Share Posted August 13, 2010 For my husband and I, we take $300 total for tips and cash for off the ship. Our S&S is usually around $250 including the automatic tips. We don't gamble and we each have maybe one to two drinks per day.
JerseyshoreBruce Posted August 13, 2010 #18 Share Posted August 13, 2010 $1000.00 for tips , taxi's, shopping and eating at a port if we need to.
sayvan Posted August 13, 2010 #19 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Normally like to take about $1000 in cash..... mostly small bills as well. Have always come back with at least $300-$400 depending on whether we booked excursions with the ship or on our own. Also like to play a bit in the casino... or should I say give it away in the casino. Sail and Sign usually runs on Average $600-$
glrounds Posted August 13, 2010 #20 Share Posted August 13, 2010 $800-$1000 for shore expenses and added tips and bring most of it home. I usually carry a lot of cash anyway. Good ole American Dollars are very effective in solving "problems" that may arise when out of the country. I don't do ship excursions, gamble much (just Texas Hold'em), and drink very little. Sail'n'Sign account may be $200-300 including tips and duty-free gifts for my exwife (hard to find perfume)and son(currently Cool Water cologne). :D

LOL . . . good point . . . however, if they can get it out of my left front pocket, they can have it . . . I'll have no further use for it. :D
