bittenbycruisebug Posted August 19, 2010 #51 Share Posted August 19, 2010 When Princess designed the Emerald, they moved Skywalkers further up the ship, hence removing the source of shade. Terrace Pool on Emerald is fully open to the sun, as far as I could tell, unlike the previous ship designs of the Grand and Golden. Thought so. It sure looks like no sun from the pix. Oh, well, we'll just go at night!!! Thanks, Jackie
stretchcruz Posted August 20, 2010 #52 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Ibrasu, that is bad news. What is the other pool designated for families? (I bet it is the covered one that used to be adults only!!)
Putterdude Posted August 20, 2010 #53 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Have spent many happy hours by it...reading, napping, sunning and when it gets to hot go in for a dip....love it.
caribill Posted August 20, 2010 #54 Share Posted August 20, 2010 The aft pool is a deep pool and not recommended for anyone who may be a poor swimmer, even though it is not that wide (estimated 20" square). DW can't touch the bottom and neither can I. 20 inches wide is a very small pool

Ibrasu Posted August 20, 2010 #56 Share Posted August 20, 2010 On this cruise (on The Grand) the notices say that the Calypso Pool (the one with the lid) and associated jacuzzis are reserved for adults only and invites families to use the Neptune Pool, forward on deck 14 or the pool aft on deck 12 (and for Times Prince - we did indeed go and view the wall there and near to where it says depth 5ft 2ins are the remnants of some industrial strength double sided sticky tape!) However, it’s worth adding that near those notices are others requesting folks not to reserve loungers or to leave their things on them for more than half an hour AND (drum roll) next to those notices are tables which at first were piled high with blue stripy towels, ship’s library books and assorted personal items which we wouldn’t have risked leaving unattended at all. Yes, unbelievable as it may seem, not only are passengers now able to free up the chairs legitimately but the deck staff are doing it too. Sadly, all this is now academic. It’s Southampton tomorrow and it’s raining. Ibrasu
