Tybro Posted August 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2010 I've been on lots of cruises but never with more than two of us in the room. Am taking some teenagers next time. How does 3 in one room work and how crowded is it?
cb at sea Posted August 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Depends on the ship and the cabin size.....for instance, on RCI's older ships, the standard cabins are quite tiny...some are only 119 sq. ft.....pretty tight, even for 2! On Carnival, most of the cabins are 185 sq. ft...and that should be more comfortable, even for 3. If you're putting 3 teens in one room...no problem! Teens don't mind tight spaces...and when they get to college, you'll see that's true. (Dorms are pretty tiny, too!) If you're thinking of 2 adults and a teen, get the largest cabin you can afford....it will be well worth it! Most cruiseline websites have the deck plans and sq. footage of each type of cabin. Always have the deck plans in front of you when booking!
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Some rooms will easily accomodate three people but this will vary even on the same ship. You need to look at each cruise line to find the lines where more than two can sail in a cabin and then find the rooms that are available on those ships and the associated pricing. chasdata Posted August 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2010 My husband, teen daughter and I usually cruise together. The 3rd and 4th beds drop down from the ceiling. My husband insists on having our bed a queen, so the drop down is above us. This gives us room on the other side where the drop down is not or you can ask them to drop the opposite one, if tere is a 4th drop down. The one time we took our daughter's friend, we had the smallest cabin we'd even had. Always book with the deck plan and cabn size available. We normally get an insde cabin and they aren't huge but we don't spend that much time in the cabin anyway. Just get as large a cabin as you can afford to get, then enjoy!
