cwmcaa Posted August 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2010 I was just reading through some Patters getting ready for our cruise and I see Bouillon Station mentioned which is located by one of the pools. I googled it and still don't have an answer. Can anyone fill me in?

Druke I Posted August 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Warm bullion can be very uplifting on a chilly morn (or afternoon too).
cwmcaa Posted August 29, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted August 29, 2010 And that's what I come up with when I google! In that case, I'm hoping it's gold. ;)
helpmesailaway Posted August 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2010 On the Coral Princess a few years ago there was a bullion station. I felt so bad for the chef. He really set up a lovely table but nobody was partaking of the bullion. It was by one of the pools so we were lounging there for awhile so we could see what was going on. The chef looked a bit lonly.
cwmcaa Posted August 29, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Okay, I'm not sure I am getting this...is it really soup?
cb at sea Posted August 29, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2010 It's clear broth..no solids. It's what you're allowed to eat when prepping for a colonoscopy! Not a fan!
Cruisers from WA Posted August 29, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2010 This must be on an Alaska cruise.....since that is the only place I have ever seen it offered....and I did not try it....not a big fan of broth/bouillon
cwmcaa Posted August 29, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Well, what do you know...it is broth. I'm just going to have to track that down just to say I've done it. Thanks all!
Sapphire723 Posted August 29, 2010 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2010 It's a warm broth served on cruises with chillier weather (such as Alaskan cruises) to help warm up the passengers from the inside out.
MadameButterfly Posted August 29, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2010 That would make sense Sapphire, but I have to say... it's kind of a funny concept. I can imagine on the Alaska/Canada/cold climate sailings that parking yourself out on deck this Boullion station seems like a welcome thing! helpmesailaway Posted August 29, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 29, 2010 I was on the wrong ship:o in my above post. The bullion station was on the Star during a cold weather cruise. It was broth and not one person stopped to try it. They looked - and moved on.
aquilegia Posted August 29, 2010 #13 Share Posted August 29, 2010 It's not bullion, it's bouillon and it's a clear meat soup. Years ago, on P&O, they used to bring cups of something very similar called beef tea round the decks on cold mornings and very welcome it was too.
