My son and his friends are going with us on a cruise for their senior year spring break..and all of them will be 18....so do most cruise lines plan activities for this age group? ..too old for teen club..but not yet 21 and eligible for all adult things? What advice can anyone give..daytime is fine because they just play basketball and swim and hang out..its the after dinner time they will be looking for..usually in the past they were all off to the teen club..but not this time..so what to do??

Only thing they can't do on the ship at 18yrs old is drink alcohol. They can get into the clubs and they can gamble in the casino. And in Mexico and the Bahamas the drinking age is 18. So in those ports they can do everything you can do (if you let them).

If I remember right they can't be in the disoc after 11:00 also....

Just found a sample Caper on the CCL website http://www.carnival.com/cms/Images/Onboard_Experience/sample_capers07.pdf and it says 18 and older from 11pm to late for the disco.:)

Bill

Yep...I said it and then I tried to get on the Carn-evil website and it was in a mood....I was just coming back to say they are allowed.....;)

My daughter was so disappointed on her 18th birthday. So LOVED Camp Carnival and now she was on her own... but she discovered the Casino and LOVED those "games." If she hadn't been so lucky on our first cruise after her 18th birthday, I'd be broke!!!

But, she found things to do, remembering the things she did in Camp. AND, she played most all the games they offered during the day... and watched the events and shows...

She liked the ice carving and hairy man and marriage game and bingo and and and... there was LOTS for her!!!

Unless they are incredibly shy, they find their own things to do with their own age group.

The pool is usually where they meet others for the first time, hang out a bit, and then make arrangements to go to the club, do karaoke, hang out on the Lido, etc.

When my daughters were that age on cruises we spent more time making sure we knew what they WERE doing, than worrying they had nothing to do.. :D

When dd went on her first cruise as an "aged out" camper (on Fantasy out of NOLA- she had just turned 18 3 weeks before) she was very disappointed. She is incredibly social and outgoing, yet "wandered" the ship the first 2 evenings trying to find others her age to hang with. She is not really a disco person, so that was out. Almost everyone her age on the ship had others to hang with - relatives/cousins they had boarded with, friends they had come on the cruise with. No one really wanted to make friends with an "outsider." She hung with us, but kept trying to meet people. The only time she really met some was when she went into the hottub. She was immediately surrounded by 3-5 guys her age! It was pretty funny! It was the first cruise she hung out with us. She didn't mind, but said she was used to never seeing us except for dinner and excursions! (and so were we!) Hoping there is a meet and mingle for the 18-20 year old set on Dream in December. I heard some ships are trying this.

Unfortunetely Carnival has dropped the ball on this. This was brought up on the Blogger's cruise back in 2009. They are suppose to be trying some new things for this group in the near future.

Dave

I hope they do. Even a 1/2 hour meeting the first night somewhere would break the ice, and make it a better cruise for that age group.

I remember seeing some 18 yr olds in the piano bar singing along with everyone on the last night. They had a bottle of booze they were sipping.

They are allowed to do everything, but order drinks. So they would just do what adults do, maybe hit the singles party (1st night on triumph 7 day).
