Disembarkment times

I was wondering how long it usually takes people to get off the ship on port days? Also, the average time most people leave the ship on the last day.

 

We are cruising on the Ocean Princess in October if that helps!

What port?

I guess I didn't realize it would depend on the port :) We are cruising in the Med. Sorrento (tender), La Goulette, Barcelona, Nice, Livorno, Cita.

Since the Ocean Princess is a small ship, if you are docked, once disembarkation starts at a port, everyone could be off within 15 minutes. It will usually take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to start disembarkation once the ship has docked.

 

If there is tendering, then it will take longer, often over an hour for all people to be tendered to shore once tendering starts.

 

On the final day, everyone will usually be off the ship by 9:30 AM-10:00 AM assuming a 7 AM or earlier arrival.

I cringe every time someone asks a question like this. There are so many variables. In perfect conditions, you may get the times people quote, but my personal experience is that you had better not count on it.

It usually depends a lot on the weather and port officials. There have been times when we've been off the ship within 30 minutes of it docking and other times several hours. One time we were waiting for winds to die down and after several hours the captain decided not to chance it and we skipped the port altogether. On the smaller ships it goes very quickly.

The ship docks at 4:00 am. Reports have been that you can be off by 6:00-6:30 even with putting your luggage out the night before. Princess recommends no flights before 10:00 if that gives any indication (with an hour to get to the airport).
