cwmcaa Posted September 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2010 Can you put money into the slot machines or do you have to load money onto your room card and use it in the slot machines? Can anyone give me some tips? We are leaving Sunday on the Sapphire to Alaska.
Toto2Kansas Posted September 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2010 You can play the slots with bills (USD), but to cash out, you need to set up a slot back on your cruise card (easy to do and instructions on every slot machine). The money loaded from the machine to your card (slot bank) can then be added to any machine you wish to play afterwards. So, yes, you can put bills into the machines, but they won't pay you in coins when you cash out, only way to cash out is to your slot bank account. cwmcaa Posted September 10, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted September 10, 2010 So it sounds to me like the slot acct is separate from your ship board acct. I was just afraid I would start playing the slots and lose track of how much I was spending then get a nice bill at the end of the cruise. I was hoping it would either be cash or a 'casino card acct'. Thanks so much for the info. As for not breaking the Sapphire casino bank...no promises my friend, no promises. ;-)
Loonbeam Posted September 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2010 The slot account is not necessarily completely separate from your ship account. At the machines it can be set up so that you can pull money from you ship account, but it takes a specific action, it won't just let you play and play and then bill you.. You also need to remember to clear your slot bank out before the end of cruise, I seem to recall it not being automatic. So it sounds to me like the slot acct is separate from your ship board acct. MamaPuggle Posted September 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2010 As stated above, you can put US Currency into any of the slot machines. At the end of you session, you put your credits onto your ship card. If you wish, you can proceed immediately to the cashier in the casino and take the credits you just put onto you card out in cash. This makes it very easy to keep track of your casino spending.

cruiser113 Posted September 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Yes, you will each have your own bill and it will be billed to the credit card of record.

OCruisers Posted September 11, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 11, 2010 So will my ship card casino credits be different than my husbands even though we share the same room? YES! Each of you will have a different pin number in the casino if you set it up that way. As long as you use US Bills, it's TOTALLY private. Just remember to cash out your casino account before the end of the cruise because it will not be credited to your on board account. They have instruction cards that explain the whole thing all over the slot area of the casino. Actually, very easy. :)
Toto2Kansas Posted September 11, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 11, 2010 If you leave your card in the maching by mistake can someone else take it and cash out? I keep mine on a lanyard (the casino will give you one) that has a twisty cord on it and it clamps to your clothes. That way I never leave my card behind. Your cruise card needs to be protected not only in the casino, but anywhere onboard. It would be like loosing your credit card in a busy mall. ;)
seamanfs Posted September 11, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 11, 2010 Save me some money. We board the Sapphire on the 19th and would appreciate you not breaking all the banks. ;) Believe me, we saved you guys lots of money for winning when you board. We loaded the machines for you really well!!! That casino was not very kind to us on our Aug 22nd trip but we enjoyed the trip and ship very much. caribill Posted September 11, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 11, 2010 So will my ship card casino credits be different than my husbands even though we share the same room? The casino credits are not part of your room account. (Although buying casino credits will show up as charges to your room account). The casino credits will be linked to the card (not stored on it) when you closeout at a slot machine. If you forget to closeout and leave the machine, then the next person who comes along can just spin away on your money or even closeout the balance you forgot to his/her card (again, not actually on the card, but linked to it). It is obviously good to be very careful with your card. I am glad to hear that they have a PIN number assigned for the Casino. I sometimes leave my Players card in a machine by mistake. The cord is a good idea while in the Casino.
OCruisers Posted September 12, 2010 #17 Share Posted September 12, 2010 Not unless they have your pin number. Not correct. You can each use the same pin number Certainly you can use the same pin number .... but, but, but, ... to keep the casino acounts separate, using different pin numbers is a good thing to do.

The cruise card is unique, the pin does not have to be. In fact, everyone on the ship could use the same pin and each casino account would be seperate. Just the same as two ATM cards can have the same pin number. Accounts will not get confused.
