Superstitions while playing

I try not to be superstitious. Sometimes when you are having a bad game you start to look for anything that can change your luck. Even though being a scientific person I know that how I hold my cards, or when I order a drink have nothing to do with the outcome a game I find myself doing stupid things because the last time I did, I won. Craps players are probably the most superstitious players. And I know what you mean about the drink orders. We had a waitress that seemed to always come up to the shooter during a throw and give them their drink or try to take an order. Everyone would moan when she showed up because it seemed that as soon as she did, the shooter would seven out... The thing is, no one considers the hundreds of other times when the "insert superstitious behavior here" is done and nothing happens. Its only noticed when it happens when a loss or big win occurs...

Not really a superstition but when I'm playing poker I will not make change for other players from my stack and I don't let the dealer "color me up". I don't care if I have to have my chips racked and stacked, the only way higher denomination chips get in my stack is if I win them.

It's not a superstition but when I'm playing craps using my primary throwing method and it isn't working as well as I would like, I then change to a alternate throwing method for 1 or 2 hands and then back to the original method. Most times this gets things straightened out for me.

What are some of your superstitions while gaming/playing?

Mine

Not ordering a drink while actively playing craps.

Placing a bet after a number hits a few times. 3 hard 10, I place a bet on 10 and will 7 out.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO goldwinger88:There really isn't any correlation between any of the superstions and playing casino games. Some things could be explained away and have been given a superstious belief in. Example: high fiving the shooter if he makes a point. You would probably disturb the shooter from his routine and break his pattern thus causing a bad roll.

At the craps table I will not roll the dice. When it's my turn, I pass to it to the next person.

I used to roll the dice, and always ended up with 7's after the come out roll. So I gave up on rolling years ago.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO reedl:I won't call that a superstition. Just bad experience. However, for all you folks who want to hear another superstition: If seven is mentioned at a table it will come out soon. When playing at a table with a lot of older players watch, after the dice leave the table see who calls off odds bets and/or place bets.

Lately I've been thinking about betting against the dice and mention 7 every chance I get and throwing the dice off the table.

I never color up at the poker table in the casino either but during my monthly poker game with friends it seems like every time I make change for somebody or color up I end of having to make change for myself within a couple of hands :)

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Grandpaul: You are entitled to bet whichever way you want at the table. Try that, who knows, you may get lucky.

One time I was playing at the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas. I was betting the Pass Line taking odds and making Come bets with odds. I was losing. Then I decided not to fight the dice. I bet the Don't Pass. I won all the money I lost and a little more.
