Infinity before refit?

I am researching a Panama Canal full transit and discovered a very nice price for the Infinity. Then I discovered it was her last trip before a refit. Does anyone have any words of wisdom about what to consider regarding such a trip besides the fact she may be a little, um, shop-worn? We have only cruised on Princess (love the Sanctuary, Anytime dining, balconies, not so much about mass quantities of food) before this. Any comments about a possible X-change?

We are just off the Summit, launched around the same time as the Infinity. While the outside of the ship showed some rust, the inside looked almost brand new. There was very little worn carpeting and fabrics that we noticed. Some carpets were replaced during the cruise. My wife says the color scheme (earth tones) is a little dated, but I find such colors comforting. I would go back on the Summit in a heartbeat before or after refurbishment.

As indicated in reviews I posted in another thread, the entertainment was excellent, the food was good but not gourmet, and the crew was always there to help you when you needed them.

(My issues with Celebrity are with poor guest relations, corporate policies on communicating negative news to passengers and doing the right thing for all affected passengers when the company screws up, not just for those passengers who ask to escalate to management resolve an problem.)

We are also booked on the Infinity for January 2011 in South America. This is before dry dock. Having seen the condition of the Summit and the cheerful attitude of its crew, we have no hesitation whatsoever!

We are booked on Infinity's repositioning cruise from Miami to Valpo, through the Panama Canal. Have read "Path Between Two Seas" and excited about the transit, as well as first time going to South America.

I have read many posts on Infinity, and the vast majority are good.
