momatibm Posted February 14, 2011 #51 Share Posted February 14, 2011 The answers may be here somewhere but please be patient with me. 1. Is there a safe in the room? Yes 2. Is there a fitness room? Yes Do they have any fitness classes like Yoga? Yes 3. I thought I read the restaurant was great - $20?? I looked online at the Ryndham and looked at reviews but maybe I had been reading about another HAL ship? Pinnacle charge is $20 -- didn't eat there ate in Main dining room - no complaints there 4. I know it is an older crowd but will our 30-yr. old single daughter feel out of place? It is too late now she is going:) Lot's of younger cruisers on my two weeks. Those are the pressing questions I haven't gotten answered. Thanks!! See red responses above.

humingbird Posted February 16, 2011 #53 Share Posted February 16, 2011 We were on the Ryndam on the 14-day Collector's Cruise to the Western Caribbean Jan 23 to Feb 6. We had an absolutely fabulous time. The ocean also cooperated, and we saw very few white caps!! Awesome!! There was dancing in the Ocean Bar and the Crow's Nest. We ate every dinner in the Main Dining Room on the 7th deck. Even though we did not get fixed dining, we were able to have the same table and stewards every evening with "As You Wish Dining." You need to visit with the Maitre d' when you board the ship. The food was outstanding as well as the service. We ate breakfast in the Lido every day as we could get service at an early hour. While HAL has done away with trays, we saw many elderly passengers being helped by the Lido stewards, so patrons do not have to make return trips to get coffee, water, tea, etc. While the majority of the passengers are elderly, we did see quite a few younger people and the ship does have singles get-togethers. There were even around ten children on board even though this was during school sessions. We love the smaller ships. One never feels crowded, and most of the passengers are very nice. We chose an inside cabin, middle of the ship, on the Main Deck and were quite satisfied. The bathroom is small, but not a problem. The entertainment was superb. Very talented singers, musicians, and dancers. The only complaint was that they performed the same shows the second week; but we enjoyed them the second time around as much as the first. We would definitely book another cruise on the Ryndam. Have a wonderful cruise. :):):)
woodofpine Posted February 16, 2011 #54 Share Posted February 16, 2011 We were on her over Thanksgiving. The ship is well cared for. Shorter than most these days (but Panamax broad of beam) so she is easy to traverse bow to stern without regrets (shoot! left something in the cabin!). The food was very good. The casino is small but artfully curved through the piano bars and shops area in way that adds a bit of class and pizzaz to both. The elongated libarary is the most useful and inviting that I've seen... ever (complimented by a specialty coffee - knosh kiosk). Its a cozy ship with a lot of character and intelligent design. P.S. My only minor defect is that ordinary cabins (like out outsides) didn't have mini-fridge (ice but no fridge), minor.
AtlantaCruiser72 Posted February 17, 2011 #55 Share Posted February 17, 2011 2 Spa related questions ..... What is the price for the week-long Thermal Suite pass? Are there Sauna/Steam rooms available for use w/o buying a pass to the Thermal Suites? And a Canaletto question - is the menu teh same every night or does it change daily?
