Tendering for platinum

Recommended Posts

A few months ago, there was a discussion on the boards about Carnival becoming more proactive about giving preferred tendering both from and to the ship for Platinum members. We will be on the Legend the end of Oct. with two tender ports and I am wondering if this has become a reality across the board for all Carnival ships. Or am I dreaming? I know Grand Cayman can be a real hassle getting back on the ship and I have never experienced Belize.Any input from anyone who has experienced this recently would be appreciated.

We have never had a problem with priority tenering......we were just on the Glory in May and tendered to Cayman and Belize. We went to the VIP line at guest services and they escorted our group to the front of the tender line........

We have done this several times for Cabo also....never had a problem..

But what about getting back on the ship at GC? It can be a real mob scene, and the last I heard there was no priority tendering back to the ship.

How about on the return? the discussion I remember was from John's blog{I know, John who?] and the issue discussed was making sure platinum receives priority tendering on the return trip to the ship as well. Our experience with Cayman in the past was very long lines in the hot sun and very chaotic.

I tried it for the first time coming back from HMC. The line was horrible, I walked up to a carnival employee and showed her my card and said "we are supposed to get priority tendering" she said, yes mam, righ this way!:D

No problem at all, wish I'd tried sooner.. No where does it say priority tendering to the port in the perks. It simply says priority tendering.

This question was specifically asked to John about 2 months (give or take) ago and he clearly stated that the Priority was BOTH WAYS....

which shocked me, because I had never heard that.

However, as with many things that are Carnival....just because that is the rule...doesn't mean it is always going to happen OR that all the staff and crew know about it.

On our Platinum letter on the Elation in August...it clearly said priority tendering "from the ship only". (This was the FIRST time I had ever seen it spelled out like that...)

This was just before this cruise that John had posted it was definately both ways....

That's exactly why we don't get off the ship in GC anymore.....The last time I did was only because I needed to get sister some asthma meds that she forgot to pack....

The other issue is if there is a Carnival person there or just a port security type people.......I don't think that later could care less if you are Platinum.....

But just because I'm a really kind and generous person......I will vow to go ashore when I'm in Grand Caymen A WEEK FROM TODAY....:D....and I will try to find this thread and give you my live experience.........

Jeez.......what I sacrifice for my CC friends...........:rolleyes::p

This was what I was referring to and wondering if it had progressed any further-I guess we try it and see what happens! sounds like there haven't been any great strides made toward making it a reality.

I am in no hurry to get back on the ship. If we see the line is long we stop at the nearest bar and watch it twindle down......I have never seen a Carnival employee at the entrance to the port......only port authority and I would be willing to bet they could care less if I flashed a platinum card as I would not expect them to care..... they are more interested in seeing my id that matches the name on my card......a non issue for us.....

You rock! Thank you. the only port we have ever had an issue in was Cayman and it left a bad memory. We were hoping it had gotten better there. We are far from platinum snobs-very seldom even use the priority tendering but in this case, we would.

Last year at Grand Cayman there was a priority area to the right of the line with bottled water. We picked up a bottle, showed card and walked to the front of the line with no problem.

In Cabo this year there was a sign on the pier for priority boarding.

Here's hoping It's still the case. I will report back for all that are interested when I return.

Show where exactly do platinum members go to get priority tendering from the ship? Guest services? Or to the gangway? or to the place where they are giving out tickets? Thanks for the help. :)

Go to the Platinum line at the Purser's Desk.

Sometimes you have to remind the person behind the desk that this is a Platinum perk.

I haven't gone up to guest services in order to get off the ship.

I have just gone to the stairs where the line is. There is usually a crew member there. If there is no one there, then I have just gone down the opposite stairwell and showed my Platinum card to the crew member down by the exit area.

We go to the guest service desk. It is much easier and faster to follow someone in uniform down the stairs or elevator. I have seen the line wrap up 3 decks of stairs in not so uniform lines before. The only crew members I always remember seeing in the stairwells are the ones selling the water and the "shopping pro" handing out fliers, but I'm moving too fast to talk to either one.

They don't mind leaving to walk you to the exit? Do you ever have to wait for them to the extent that it would have just been faster to get a tender ticket?

One time we experienced a pissy attitude.......but he got us there the fastest:D All other times they were great. One time we waited maybe 5 minutes........the tender line is horrible.......sometimes wrapped around several floors of stairs.......it they get pissy just ask for the manager......
