You lucked out! The Riverside is a wonderful hotel in the middle of the BEST part of Ft. Lauderdale.

There are tons of little cafes in the area. A bit down the street is Mangos, they usually have live music on the weekends. You could go anywhere and get a great meal though.

Here's a website that will give you a feel for the area:

http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/

A friend of mine used to have a wine shop on Las Olas, but that was when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. I looked on the website, 4 chocolate places, no wine shop. I'm sure there's a CVS/Walgreens within walking distance, up towards Broward Blvd at around 9th Ave. There used to be a small grocery, but I think that went the way of the do-do too.

A taxi should be about $10 - $15. It's not that far from the airport or to Port Everglades.

Bon Voyage!

First of all, congrats on a super price.

For the drugstore - Make a left as you go out the Las Olas entrance. Go across the street, straight ahead a few blocks. Can't miss it. Below is a picture of the hotel as we walked back from the drugstore. (Note Cheesecake Factory right at the hotel) We also really liked the crepe place across the street, turn right a block or two.

We enjoyed almost a whole day getting on and off the water taxi and just walking around. One of the water taxi stops is very near the hotel. Loved their small but very nice pool behind the hotel.

Our cab to the ship was $25 including tip.

Have fun!

Hi, I stayed here earlier in the month:) and its a wonderful hotel.

All kinds of restaurants along the Blvd and most have menus with the

prices in the window so you can decide what looks good to you.

Lots of local eateries and the food is yummy:D

No transportation from the airport or to the port. I took a cab both

ways..the cab from the airport to the hotel cost me 20 bucks.

A cab to the port cost me 12 bucks.

What is there to do? One block over and behind the hotel is a

Water Taxi pick up point...for 15.00 you can ride it all day long

and get on and off and on again. I did that and it was a great day:)

It goes all the way north on the intercoastal with different pick up/

drop off points. And yes, it comes back so you can go back to the

the hotel;)

I highly recommend it and wish I could go with you:D
