singinglizzie Posted October 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I'm probably living in a dream world, but wonder who has hit it big on the on board slot machines? Wonder what the highest paid jackpot has been???
bluefintuna Posted October 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I hit a machine on the Spirit in Aug. for $137, but out of 28 cruises that is about the only "win" that I can remember.
Sauer-kraut Posted October 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2010 Oh gosh! I hope it will be our Roll Call Slot Pull!! Wouldn't that be great to walk off the cruise with it all paid for out of our winnings! :D We'll find out on Tuesday. Cross your fingers for us. ;)
beasfriend Posted October 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I hit on a $1 machine on the Carnival Valor years ago for $2800 - last night as the casino was closing so I actually walked off with it. However, over the years I've put a LOT more than that in the machines.

babebutters Posted October 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I won $8400 on a cruise on the Carnival Liberty with my kids (DH had to work) in January. It was the Little Green Men slot with the stacked wilds. I have also won $200+ numerous times on the Wild Wolf/Wolf Run slots, also with stacked wilds. They give you your winnings in cash, probably in the hope you will give it back. I was good, though; I put it allin the in-room safe and surprised my husband when we got home. Boy was he a happy camper!!
jame_g Posted October 3, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I hit $60 once, I think my partner hit $80 and $120. He's luckier than I am. Of course, most of the time we lose. Even when we hit a "jackpot", we only end up a few bucks ahead overall. Generally we limit ourselves to about $20-50 a piece for the whole trip before stopping. We can justify that as entertainment expenses since going to a movie or out to dinner would easily cost as much or more. But beyond that, we're not serious gamblers. Donh44 Posted October 3, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I am not much of a gambler but I allow myself a roll or two of quarters every night and then quit when they are gone whether I win anything or not. Last cruise on the Carnival Victory I won $340.00 and you would have thought that I hit the jackpot. I immediately quit, took my winnings and left. david_sobe Posted October 3, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 3, 2010 All you need to do is look at the wall of "winnings" to see and understand how the casino works. About every 2 years someone hits $2500. And that bingo. That big NCL jackpot you hear about on every NCL cruise ($20,000) is hit only once every 3 years. The casino is the best way for the cruise line to make money :)
djmess Posted October 3, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I know someone who hit 6 figures on a slot machine on an RCI ship this summer on the 1st night of the cruise. It was amazing and our entire group was then treated like royalty the entire cruise. This person continued to hit 1-3k each night the rest of the cruise. I've never seen anything like it. Now I only play the penny and quarters as opposed to the high dollar machines, but, it can happen. This same person has been on NCL ships and done very well, but nothing like this summer. Good luck to all of you!
Rileyz Posted October 4, 2010 #15 Share Posted October 4, 2010 $540 on a .25 cent Haywire machine this past May on the Dawn. Paid off the room charges with that! :D

jmcdon7230 Posted October 4, 2010 #17 Share Posted October 4, 2010 I saw a guy on the NCL Majesty (June 2009) who, while waiting for a Texas Hold-Em tournament to begin, put $20 into a slot machine and with one pull, won $1,000. It was one of the most amazing gambling stunts I've ever witnessed.
fightpiter Posted October 4, 2010 #18 Share Posted October 4, 2010 In May, on the Pearl, a couple playing 2 machines down from me won 20k on a dollar machine. It might have been 10 but I am almost positive that it was 20. Young couple and very excited.
Coastalbreezes Posted October 4, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Last December on the Westerdam I hit a Blazing 7's dollar machine for $2,000...they rushed over, gave me the cash along with all the paperwork for Uncle Sam... TracyE
newmexicoNita Posted October 4, 2010 #20 Share Posted October 4, 2010 (edited) I'm probably living in a dream world, but wonder who has hit it big on the on board slot machines? Wonder what the highest paid jackpot has been??? I don't know what you mean by big, but I had a client that won $2500 on a Carnval cruise. The most I have won was a $100, no, I take that back, I won about $130 on a nickel machine on the Sun and about $140 on a Celebrity cruise. None were really jack pots, just constant wins over losses. The worst I ever saw were the slots on our 2 HAL cruises, even worse that the Spirit. Nita Edited October 4, 2010 by newmexicoNita

LOWTYD Posted October 4, 2010 #22 Share Posted October 4, 2010 I hit $768 on a nickel slot (Lobster's Dancing Nightly) on the Gem in 2008. That was "Big" for me! :)
ColinIllinois Posted October 4, 2010 #23 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Probably a silly question but I assume that if you win 20 grand out at sea you don't have to pay any taxes on that?
Sea Born Posted October 4, 2010 #24 Share Posted October 4, 2010 Probably a silly question but I assume that if you win 20 grand out at sea you don't have to pay any taxes on that? UNFORTUNATELY - YES you do! You get a 1099 form just like any other casino.
watchdiva Posted October 4, 2010 #25 Share Posted October 4, 2010 I only pay $.25 slots and when my $20 is gone I leave the casino. I can play for hours on the same $20 with little "hits" here and there to keep it going...However a few years ago I hit for almost $300 (again on a $.25 slot) and immediately left the casino, put the money into my "casino fund " envelope that was in the safe and played on their money for the rest of the cruise..
