Adventures on the Carnival Conquest… a review of the Sep 26 7 day cruise to Cozumel

Recommended Posts

It is my understanding that this thread was started for the purpose of Mach to give his review of the Crazies cruise on the Conquest.........Not a thread about whether you like or dislike this man, or his style of writing.

The good thing about Cruise Critic, nobody is twisting your arm to read anything.

If you read something that offends you, or you just simply don't like someone......then PLEASE don't read it.

There are THOUSANDS of other threads out there that might interest you, if this one doesn't.

There are a lot of people who are anxiously waiting to read this review, myself included.

So Mach, I hope that you will continue on with this review. :)

Well said! I'm really looking forward to reading Mach's review (luv it so far)!

Host Mach...Please continue your review. Your writing style is just fine the way it is.

Will have to look into those 'crazies cruises'. Sound like lots of fun.

Um, I thought this was Mach's review. That is, he is taking time to provide HIS opinion of the cruise.

Those who want to disagree with every sentence, please start a new thread and post your own review. ;)

Totally agree with you, okwriter.

Wow. I was excited to see Mach's review and looking forward to more of it. But what I see is people taking this thread and turning it into their own personal soapbox. Please, let's allow Mach to continue without any further petty arguing.

Thanks.

I agree, everyone has an opinion and often those opinion may differ, quite dramatically in many cases. It's no reason for everyone on here to get so butthurt because someone else doesn't agree with them. I would love it if the moderators could clean up this thread and delete some of these posts (even this one) so we can get back to the meat and potatoes of Mach's thread. Maybe CC should start a "Opinions, and why they should or shouldn't differ" board so inane arguments have a place to go?

I totally agree.

I do believe that CC has a rule about Highjacking a thread, and I believe this one has been highjacked.

If I need to be grouped in with the highjackers, so be it......but this is ridiculous.....I came here to read a review about a cruise that I did not get to go on......and it angers me to have to read all this childish bickering back and forth.

I wouldn't blame Mach if he canned it.......but I hope and pray he doesn't......cuz I know the majority of us want to hear about it.

I'm thrilled that you were able to enjoy the Point. About 26 of us ate there Wednesday evening. It would have been a bit more but we had one of the group who was feeling the effects of the sea as well.

:)

 I'm the one that missed the Pointe that evening!!:o And I was not feeling to well at all!! But the room Stewards came to my cabin and checked up on me a few times to ask how I was doing!!:) Everyone onboard I thought did a wonderful job considering all that went on!:o

:) More!! More!! We want more please Mach!!

Shake them haters off

I'll have quite a bit more tomorrow.

Stitch isn't doing well and I need to clean the kitchen after dinner (I tend to make quite a mess when I cook...) so I'll work on it a bit more overnight.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks. I really appreciate it but remember, as long as what others say is not a personal attack, a nuisance post or thread drift their posts will stay.

Thanks again.

:)

Very interesting review so far...

However...why do you point out that you were greeted by a "robust" black lady in a uniform emblazoned with 'Security'?

She stuck in my memory quite well too. She measured my sister's suitcase in the measuring thingee and the suitcase part fit, but not all the wheel parts. Back you go. I said I know this suitcase fits thru security, because Iv put it thru security at other ports. She told me "if it fits thru the xray scanner has nothing to do with this". I do find Galveston can be a bit of a pain about stuff.

I came back after checking the luggage to find my sister seated outside on a bench with two total strangers looking after her. The security said its against the rules for her to wait for me inside the air conditioned port building, it was necessary for her to escort my HC sister outside to sit in the sun.

Most people were great. A few like this lady their power went to her head.

Oh, Firefly...I am so sorry to hear of the way your sister was treated. Surely this is something that really should be brought to the attention of Carnival or the Port of Galveston authorities, whomever is in charge of that particular phase of cruising.

I'm so sorry that we humans have such a hard time being good to each other sometimes.

My son works for TSA at Dulles airport outside DC... He's in mgmt, but occasionally has to do the screenings. He had a 97 year old Navy vet whose medical implant set off the alarm. He had to wand this man. The man's son said "I know this is your job..but isn't this ridiculous?" My son responded that if he didn't go by SOP...and got caught...he could end up in serious trouble. The thing is....you never know who someone really is....and what someone has.....

It may not be that power went to her head...it may be that she didn't want to lose her job.

I'm not saying this to be rude or anything...but most of you don't live in "high alert" areas...so you are probably not as sensitive to the need for good security.

Could someone (NOT Flynlo or the cat person) please check the following post to make sure I am not offending anyone:

Dear Haters, please get the crap off of this thread so Host Mach can finish his review which, by the way, the rest of us are enjoying. :D

I can't agree more!! I usually don't say much but I do enjoy host Mach's writing. My dh and I will be on the Conquest again on the 21 of Nov. and I will enjoy reading everything I can about this great ship!!!

There were Morans at the terminal.

Oh Mach. can we just start fresh tomorrow? I have been waiting for this review and just want to get past all of this drama. You are an amazing writer and LOVE your writing style.

Hope Stitch feels better. Good for you on clean up duty. My DBF and I have a deal. He cooks and I clean up the mess. However, if I am a sick girlie, he will do as you are doing. Good night and looking forward to what I knew would potentially be a controversial review.
