beannie Posted October 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2010 If there are available cabins still available for an upcoming cruise that aren't sold that are a category above the one you have booked, can a travel agent (or whoever) make an offer to the cruise line for those cabins under the listed price? Just wondering.

Just wondering. Cabins are almost always sold "under the listed price". It's much like buying a car -- "suggested retail price" is never the actual price that someone pays (unless they don't know any better!) Basically three things can happen the closer you are to a sail date: the cruise line puts cabins on sale, the cruise line "upgrades" folks who have already booked and puts the lower priced cabins back on sale, or the cabins get sold out. And between the time you book and the time of sale if your category goes on sale, you often can get some on board credits for the difference between the price you paid and the price the cabin is now being sold for. So there are always ways to get cabins cheaper than "list price".
phoenix1181 Posted October 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2010 Buying a cruise isn't like buying a car or shopping at the flea market. They don't play let's make a deal...........

cherylandtk Posted October 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2010 Some create their own deals by offering unsold, late rooms to new bookings at very discounted prices. Some offer upsells at a price point they choose. I am not aware of any lines that will negotiate the price on either offer.
