The policy states they reserve the right when fuel is over $70 a barrel which it has been for some time. At this point, I think they know despite their policy warning it would cause an uproar should they decide to invoke it. Still, it could happen ...

When the price of oil went about $70 a barrel, Carnival Corp announced they were not adding a surcharge AT THAT TIME. They continue to reserve the right to do it at any time.

I would suspect that if the US economy was better, we would see this already. Crude closed Friday at $81.25. If the economy improves and oil stays this high or higher, I would guess they will add it back in.
