cherylg509 Posted October 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2010 I am on a 4 day cruise next week booked 2 cabins. Two people canceled but still paid for 4. What about tipping do we still get charged for 4 on automatic tips. there will be one person in each cabin.
salty dingo Posted October 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2010 No, tips are only charged for people who actually sail. You should not feel like compensating the staff extra.
MsTabbyKats Posted October 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2010 I was a "no show" in Sept. They didn't charge us for tips.
serene56 Posted October 23, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2010 Did your people cancel or will they be "no shows" If they cancel will you be charged the single supplement for those two cabins?
bazarr2 Posted October 23, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2010 Did your people cancel or will they be "no shows" If they cancel will you be charged the single supplement for those two cabins? Unless I am reading this wrong they paid for all four. Two people canceled but still paid for 4.
salty dingo Posted October 23, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2010 Unless I am reading this wrong they paid for all four. Two people canceled but still paid for 4. That is how I read it as well. If the entire cabin was paid (2 people paid full fare per cabin) there is no "single supplement". If one of the people cancelled in time to get a refund of part of the fare, then there could be additional charges. Carnival or the TA should have made that clear when the cancellation was made (if that was what occurred.) In either case, the OP asked about tips, not single supplement. The answer is the same either way - no tips for cancelled or no shows, makes no difference there. Tips only go with people who sail.
cherylg509 Posted October 23, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted October 23, 2010 thanks for answers they are going to be no shows. I paid for four in full, but only two are sailing. My daughter and I each in one cabin. I was thinking ship workers all around are out tips as I am paying for 4 and only two of us showing up. I really did not want more added expence on top of the ammount lost already.
joeyancho Posted October 23, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2010 Isn't there any chance you could get other family members or friends to go along? Seems a shame to waste two perfectly good cruises.
cherylg509 Posted October 23, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted October 23, 2010 I already tried to add or change names. No go as it was early saver price. Have many people who would go no charge but I cant do that according to the people I talked to at carnival and cruise only.com
*Mach* Posted October 23, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 23, 2010 Unless I am reading this wrong they paid for all four. Two people canceled but still paid for 4. They're within the penalty so they would have forfeited the cost of the cruise, so yeah, they paid for four. There is no refund within 14 days of the cruise. No one will be charged the additional gratuity. :)
