Bill B Posted October 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2010 KK, Thanks for the information (this is the first comprehensive list I've seen). Unfortunately, everyone who said the books were pretty much useless was right!
airlink diva Posted October 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2010 Thanks for the info Krazy Kruisers do you know when this coupon book will be issue out on the ships? I sail in early December (6th) and if I have this coupon book, I see several that I will use.
RuthC Posted October 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2010 Where do you get these coupon books? Mine have always been a gift from my TA. That's the only source I've ever heard of.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 29, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted October 29, 2010 Some people have reported that they get them on a regular basis. We have rarely gotten them. And I have no idea why we got them on our recent Ryndam cruises. They are not issued by HAL to everyone. The old ones were no use to us and these new ones -- not a single coupon we would use. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 29, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted October 29, 2010 Mine have always been a gift from my TA. That's the only source I've ever heard of. Since 9/11 our TA's company - a major AAA -- have not given out any gifts -- no big deal. So we know that our coupon books did not come from her. Bill B Posted October 29, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2010 I'm wondering about any 'fine print' on the Navigator's 7-bottle wine package coupon. Specifically, if it could be used when purchasing the package with a Beverage Value Card.
SJSULIBRARIAN Posted October 30, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Are the coupon books the same as the Onboard Value Booklets? We just booked two HAL cruises for 2011 with our travel agent and the Onboard Value Booklet is listed as a promotion for both cruises. We also got reduced deposits so I don't know if this is a promotion from the affiliation my travel agent has with a larger group or not. RuthC Posted October 30, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Are the coupon books the same as the Onboard Value Booklets? One and the same. For everything in there, you have to buy something before you can use the coupon. It either entitles you to another one, or more of whatever, or a discount on something. There is nothing that can be used without shelling out some of your own money. Now, on some things you might be making the purchase anyway, but there's no way anyone can get much benefit out of all the coupons.
RuthC Posted October 30, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2010 So we know that our coupon books did not come from her. So then, where did yours come from? I would like to know if there's another source besides a TA.
Kween Karen Posted October 30, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Not a thing on there I would use.
tcook052 Posted October 30, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 30, 2010 MHO this version slightly better than the previous ones. Get one fitness class free for one purchaed? I might've done that anyway so getting another free is a small bonus. To each, their own.
ariawoman Posted October 30, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 30, 2010 We got some sort of coupon book the day we left the ship last week on teh Nieuw Amsterdam. I dont know if it's this same list of things because I'm too lazy to go get it right now :-) So, an answer to where one gets these, might be "after you cruise" :-)
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2010 Author #15 Share Posted October 30, 2010 So then, where did yours come from? I would like to know if there's another source besides a TA. I have absolutely no idea!! We have only gotten them 2 other times in the past. And there has never been any kind of a card indicating who gave them to us. They were just sitting on the desk when we got to our cabin.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2010 Author #16 Share Posted October 30, 2010 I'm wondering about any 'fine print' on the Navigator's 7-bottle wine package coupon. Specifically, if it could be used when purchasing the package with a Beverage Value Card. Fine print on that page: Cannot not be used in conjunction with any promotional programs, sale items, Mariner Society, Holland America Line discounts, or any other discount programs. Limit one per guest per voyage. Coupons are not refundable, non-transferable and have no cash value. Photo copies not accepted. Beverage offers valid only for guests 21 and over. Service charge applies after discount. So I would assume that you could not use the Beverage cards along with the coupon.

We always book with the cheaper deposits that we get from booking future cruises while cruising. Maybe because you book with a larger agency you get them that way. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2010 Author #18 Share Posted October 30, 2010 We didn't use any of the coupons either.
RuthC Posted October 30, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 30, 2010 I have absolutely no idea!! So then it could have been from your TA, or the umbrella corporation your TA's agency works under. Correct?
RuthC Posted October 30, 2010 #20 Share Posted October 30, 2010 do these coupons work? If you fulfill the requirements, they do. For example, I purchase an Internet plan, so the coupon gets me extra minutes. If you purchase the BINGO card, you get the second card. The thing is that every coupon needs a purchase first. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2010 Author #21 Share Posted October 30, 2010 So then it could have been from your TA, or the umbrella corporation your TA's agency works under. Correct? Not from our TA --- since 9/11 none of the AAA's in our area give any kind of gifts.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2010 Author #22 Share Posted October 30, 2010 Now this doesn't happen on all ships -- but nearly every day on the Ryndam -- for both weeks -- there were all kinds of specials being offered for extra minutes for the Internet - which was great for people who didn't get the coupon book. My agency is a small one and I always get a coupon book and/or some sort of perk from them. MH
