Carnival Conquest - Need Balcony Room Recommendations

My wife and I are planning to take a cruise on the Conquest and I'm calling to book later today. Any recommendations on balcony rooms to go for vs avoid?

 

I've been reading all the threads here and basically heard a lot of conflicting reports (especially Aft rooms).

 

We do not like the idea of the aft rooms because of the lack of privacy and like the idea of being on the 'side' of the ship rather than the back. It sounds like the Spa deck rooms should be avoided due to no overhang and then I read here that the Deck 10 balconies are smaller than others?

 

Any tips / advice is greatly appreciated!

We loved our aft wrap on the Conquest 7445. We did get to see the cabin next to ours 7439 which is aft, a little different layout, no couch, but a bigger balcony than a regular balcony room. It was very nice too. Our thing was, we wanted something on Deck 7 so we had cabins above & below us.

I have never read that deck 10 balconys are smaller .. doesnt sound right to me. The ones that used to be 6Es, and now are balconys are nice because of the sliding door, rather than one that bangs shut. Iv seen them and they looked regular size to me.

 

If you just want a standard balcony, pick a 8A, why pay more for the same balcony, unless they are offering a free upgrade.

Midships, Empress Deck or pretty much any of the balcony cabins on the Lido Deck.

Someone posted that on the Conquest, the Deck 10 balconies were originally port hole rooms with more room inside, but then were converted to have the sliding doors. They said the balcony only had around 3" of clearance between the front of the chair and the rail so in order to sit out there, the chairs had to face to the side.

 

As for the price, right now they are offering free upgrade to the best available in the category...pay for a balcony, get the best available (with the exception being the premium balconies).

 

Host Mach - I was thinking about possibly Lido in one of the 8E rooms or possibly Panorama in the 8F, but I want to confirm that the Panorama Deck balconies aren't smaller.

The part of the balcony on the side is covered like normal balcony rooms, then around to the aft side is just a smaller overhang part.

 

Fire & Mach have good suggestions for regular baclony cabins. We wouldn't do an aft wrap every time, but we were splurging on our cruise since we hadn't had a vacation for the 2 of us since our honeymoon many years ago. :)

All of those cabins are 185 sq ft with a 35 sq ft balcony. The only difference are the 8As at the aft end that are L shaped and have a 60 sq ft balcony.

Just be careful that you don't get a room below something like a piano bar or any bar, or a gift shop that plays music or the deck chairs being moved first thing in the morning.

So given the option (On the Conquest), which of the following would be best given that the price is the same?

 

Panorama Deck 10 - 8E (more forward) or 8F (4 rooms closest to the pool area and by elevators on each side of the ship). This area is right under the Spa and some of the rooms are sandwiched between other rooms. If the balconies are just as 'deep' as the balconies on other decks, this sounds okay.

 

Lido Deck 9 - 8D (Forward, between rooms on top / bottom) or 8E (closer to pool area, but a few are still close enough forward to be between rooms top / bottom)

One more question...what do rooms like 1066/1067 have on the side closest to the pool? Is there a standard wall there or something else?

The best desk is Empress- you are between cabin space and away from public areas. A cabin close the the aft elevators puts you two decks up for food/pools two decks down for entertainment.

Hiya hiccup - my wife & I have only cruised twice, both times on the Conquest. First time we were in 9253 and last time 1038, both balconies in the area you're considering. I'd be happy with any balcony room on 9 (Lido) or 10 (Panorama), as long as it wasn't a Panorama room under the spa/gym.

 

We always eat in the 3rd-floor dining rooms, including breakfast & lunch on sea days, and use the stairs to keep off the cruise pounds! We're all little OCD about avoiding the elevators, so the walk up to Panorama wasn't too pleasant at the end of the port days ;) That's about the only negative I can think of on those upper decks.

 

Sorry, I don't know about those rooms with the exterior wall you mentioned (1066 & 1067). I looked on the deck plans but don't remember anything about them from when we were on the ship.

there is no obstructed view balconies on this class of ship- and your balcony is the same size as the rest. (but they are all small and narrow.)

Several years ago I was in 1039 on the Conquest and to my knowledge the balcony was the same size as any other standard balcony on the ship. But It was our first cruise and only balcony so I really have nothing to compare it to. But I loved the location.

this is a good choice cabin-- but be aware that a cabin 3 doors away will be over an area across the way from the Casino bar and a band sets up after 9pm and plays til the wee hours of the morning.

 

a cabin a few doors down will put you over the piano bar.

We try and stay away from deck 6 as there's so much going on at night in the areas below. Some of it can be loud at times we've had both aft and L-shaped on 6 and came back one night to our room vibrating from the music in the lounge below. And I think the comedy shows are in that lounge now the last one starting at midnight. Lesson learned book deck 7 or above but that's just MHO.

We are leaning toward the 1066/1067 rooms. I have found a few posts of people that loved the location of the rooms since the elevators were right there, the lido deck is literally a few seconds away and etc.

 

I tried to call our PVP, but he was away from his desk / or on the phone.

You can check out 7434 or 7439 to see if they're available. These are L shaped rooms at the aft of the ship which have balconies which are double the length of regular balconies. Slightly different layout...the bed faces the balcony. Most have a chair and table instead of the sofa, though. We have this cabin booked on the Freedom and just saw the balcony while in port with the Valor. I love a big balcony!

They also have 4 of these cabins on deck 6, but not sure how much noise would be heard from the lounges below.

None of those (Premium Balcony) cabins are avail and would cost extra anyway. The extended aft balconies are avail, but I don't like the idea of people looking on from above.

the only time people can see people below is when they are at the railing.

 

Yes, the side balcony is more private then the aft but even the side ones are not that private- the people next to you--standing at the rail can see into the balcony beside them.
