Nearest airport to Seward?

What airport do we fly into/leave from if we choose to do a cruise that begins or ends in Seward?

How far is the airport from the cruise terminal?

Thanks in advance!

It's Anchorage which is about 125 some miles from Seward. Takes about three hours to drive or take a transfer to/from Anchorage via bus or train.

ANC/PANC: Ted Stephens International airport in Anchorage is the nearest airport with significant commercial service; 99%+ of cruise passengers will transit through ANC.

Technically; SWD/Seward is the nearest airport, but has no commercial service; and I'm pretty sure ENA/Kenai Municipal is slightly (5 miles) closer than ANC, but kinda of silly to change planes in ANC to save 5 miles.

I always advocate- don't be in any rush to leave. Take advantage of being all the way there. Alaska is usually a costly trip for many. At the very least, consider 1 night. Seward is loaded with excellent touring opportunities. A major highlight is a Kenai Fjord boat tour- loaded with varied wildlife and close up glacier viewing, far superior to anything seen from your cruiseship. Taking the Alaska RR is a great transit and superior in scenery compared to the highway.

We usually (;)) end our Alaska (northbound) cruise's in Seward..and for our flight home day cruise end depending on the flight time we either take the cruise train transfers (must have a flight booked no earlier from ANC than 2:30pm) or if earlier we have used

JMHO but we prefer the northbound...would rather sail towards Alaska than away from it.

Of course if you begin your cruise in Seward you will fly into ANC (still the transportation choices I have listed above are available). and then depart from YVR (no need for transfers from Canada Place to YVR..a taxi works great).

Best of luck and enjoy whatever works for you !!

You can also rent a car one way either direction through Hertz.

Having a car allows one to make multiple stops at places like the Wildlife Conservation Center, Girdwood, Portage Glacier area, etc. Also allows for photo stops along Turnagain Arm. Train travels a slightly different route for part of the time, but car gives way more flexibility to see a lot.
