Need opinions fast

I keep arguing with myself and so I wanted a few opinions.

I have the chance to go on a 4 day cruise on the Paradise to Catalina/Ensenada in either a Porthole or regular Interior cabin same price and I'm not sure which to pick.

I've stayed in interior's before but not in about 7 yrs and I get sort of claustrophobic. This will also be my 10th cruise Platinum and my friend's 1st and I want it to be special. I could pay $50 each more for a window, but am trying to go low budget since this is a last minute cruise and I just got off the Spirit last month.

I know you're not in the cabin much but some light from the porthole would be better than none, right?

What would you do & why? Anybody with porthole cabin experience would be great to hear from.

Thanks in advance!!

Well.. since you know what an inside is try the port hole room.

But for only$50 more I think you should get the outside window room.

I know your not in the room much but nice to look out when you get up and see what the weather is like etc

I answered my own question....Porthole!!! Then I can see some natural light plus it's only for 4 days and we're hardly ever in our cabin. I wish I could afford a balcony every cruise because I love them, but if it's between a porthole or staying home I'm on the ship in a Porthole.:D

We just did the Ecstasy and had a porthole. I liked it. We had lots of space to keep stuff on the ledge in front of the portholes. You will hear the thrusters when you go to dock but we were awake anyway so no big deal. Have fun!

I was going to tell you to choose the porthole cabin. For a 7 day or longer cruise I would spend the 50.00 for a window, but in this case I would take the porthole cabin. I have heard some say that in these cabins you could experience more motion. I just enjoyed 8 days in a porthole cabin on the Freedom and didnt notice any unpleasant motion, just a gentle rocking on some nights. Given the choice of interior or porthole room, I would take the porthole room.:)

you get light through the porthole, but you also know if it's raining and can see if you're

about to dock. I was surprised once when I went up in the lift to the Lido ready to

sun and lo and behold, it was storming. I'll take an inside cabin if it's do that or no cruise.

Did you ask about the beds? Or should I say... bed. We were in a porthole cabin on the Splendor last February and it only had one twin bed. DH slept on the sofa. I thought the cabin was fine. He didn't. If there's only one twin bed and a sofa in your cabin, you may want to upgrade to the OV.

What you had was a 1A with portholes. That's different than a category "PT" porthole room. A category PT has 2 regular beds that can be pushed together. A "1A" does not. If you are pulling up the new booking engine, I think these 1A rooms are now referred to as "Interior: Upper/Lower", because many of these 1As have an upper bunk for the 2nd instead of the sofa, and most of the 1As do not have portholes and are on the interior and are smaller cabins. You had one of the good 1As. I do believe that the OP is looking at category PT, since those rooms are almost always priced the same as the inside 4As, so they should be fine, as far as getting 2 regular beds. Plus, the Paradise does not have any of the 1As with portholes. All their porthole rooms are category PT, with the 2 regular beds.

Excellent choice. For the price, those are excellent rooms! That's the choice I would've made also. We would've went with a PT room on the Triumph if we weren't able to snag an even better deal. The PT was our 2nd option. That better deal, however, isn't available on the ship you'll be going on.

ive had a port hole, ive had a window, and ive had interior. If its the same price, or not much more i say GO FOR THE WINDOW/PORT HOLE. Some light better than no light. we hated the interior room, it was always dark, depressing, and gloomy. I would pay any extra amount to have outside light. Otherwise its like being in a casino.... you never know whether its night or day.

You're right. I forgot. Our cabin was next to a PT and I did check it out. The OP should be fine with the beds.

We had the equivalent of your Triumph cabin on the Freedom in 4/08 and 1/09 before they changed the category. It's a shame that there are so few of them left.

Sparky,

Which room were you in? I have booked 1207 on the Freedom for January 2011.
