straitfan Posted December 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2010 We are sailing the Voyager out of Galveston in February. Although we have sailed with Royal Caribbean, it has been years. I know Carnival allows a "reasonable amount" of water and soda to be carried on board. They also allow 2 bottles of wine to be carried on. I was just wondering about the rules for Royal Caribbean ships. Thanks in advance for your help!
firefly333 Posted December 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2010 RCL does not have provisions for either. They will take your wine more than likely. (they have on my sailings) .. but if its just a few sodas, dont worry, they will allow it so far.
Toto2Kansas Posted December 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2010 Direct from the RCI website: Onboard Policies Print This Page Q: Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onboard? A: Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Board will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them.

straitfan Posted December 15, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted December 15, 2010 Thanks, everyone. That's what I needed to know. Didn't realize that RCL was so strict. Guess I better start saving my pennies, huh?
Rare Hlitner Posted December 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2010 We are long time Royal Caribbean cruisers (Diamond) and have recently given-up on this line do to all their budgetary cut-backs and anal rules. It is true that the current RCI policy does not allow for any liquids (including water) to be brought on-board. Whether the policy is uniformly enforced is another issue. but the rules do exist and seem to be unique to that one particular cruise line. Most other lines (including Celebrity) allow for at least 2 bottles of wine and a reasonable amount of other liquid beverages to be brought on board. In fact, on other lines, we have never been questioned when we bring wine and many liters of soft drinks on their ships. Hank
