Dave&Ann Posted April 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We're cruising in October and I love tuna fish sandwiches......solid white albacore with regular mayonaisse and a little chopped celery (not too much, though) on lightly toasted white bread. I can't seem to find a menu online of what's available onboard so I thought I'd see if anyone knows offhand if I'll be able to get some on Millennium. Anybody ever brought little cans aboard? Would they prepare it for me if I did? Ooooh...there's a new gold can Bumblebee (they call it "premium albacore"). I figure if it is available, it might not be made exactly how I like it. What if they use Miracle Whip? No. Only Helmann's. I know this is a somewhat unorthodox post, but I just ate a bowl of tuna fish at my desk and I thought of it and didn't want to forget to ask later when I get home from the office. I like chicken salad, too.......... hdawson Posted April 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I've often had very good tuna fish salad sandwiches on a kaiser from room service. Followed by Black Forrest Cake of course with cold milk. Other breads also available.

hdawson Posted April 21, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Lois. A more intimate ship. Galley is preparing for only 650 people at a time. More personalized service. A better opportunity to get to know your fellow guests and crew. Much more like a real cruise than on ships of 90-130,000 tons. Certainly not like a shopping mall at sea. Shirley and Les Posted April 22, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I really didn't want to respond to this thread. Think back now, it title is "Tuna Fish?????" On a cruise, things like creme brulee, shrimp cocktail, broiled lobster, caesar salad, filet mignon, cheese cake, broiled salmon, beef wellington all come to mind. But tuna fish????? Excuse me, I really would like a grilled cheese sandwich and Campbell's tomato soup for dinner. OK, it's off my chest. Enjoy whatever you choose to eat on your cruise. Dave&Ann Posted April 22, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I know that most of the time I want to have some great food when I'm traveling (I have to confess, I haven't done much cruising - only one prior cruise, honeymoon - other than too much time undersea on an attack submarine), but sometimes even in places like Las Vegas where there's all kinds of food choices, I still eventually get sick of all the fancy stuff and something plain like a tuna sandwich or bowl of oatmeal sounds good. I don't anticipate having it very much, but we're going on a 12-day cruise and that seems like an awful lot of cream soups, seafood, beef, etc., so I figured I would crave something ordinary by the end of the cruise. Thanks to all for your thoughts. I promise I won't bring any Campbell's soup with me.....although Snow's Corn Chowder is quite good for a canned soup........sorry, I digress... Rare Lois R Posted April 22, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Dave, hi...just ask..and you usually shall receive They try to do whatever they can to make your cruise more comfortable. I think a Tuna Sandwich is definitely an acceptable request Not sure about the Albacore part...but then again, you never know until you ask! joramrose Posted April 23, 2004 #25 Share Posted April 23, 2004 I'm with DaveandAnn. I can take just so much of "fancy food" and have to fall back on tuna fish sandwich4s, peanut butter and crackers or canned tomatoes. I remember once once on the QE2 I took one look at the plate of stuff the waiter brought out, told him to take it away and briong me some dry toast and a pot of tea. I nibbled and sipped happily while conversing with my tablemates. And occasionally I order room service of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich to "restore my palate." How's that for a fancy term? I DO enjoy shipboard cuisine. Just have to take a break occasionally. love joan
