Freedom of Seas ? Deck 6 vs. Deck 9 need cabins together

Booking FOS. Travelling with family including children and older adults and need cabins relatively close together. Seeking opinions of pros and cons of Deck 6 midship vs. Deck 9 aft on the Freedom of the Seas as it relates to movement, noise, convenience, and any other tips you might offer.

Promenade cabin #6305 is called the Moo Room because of the view. It comes with all the Ben and Jerry's ice cream you can eat and also it may still come with Concierge Club privledges. Worth inquiring about.

if you can get the room right around the corner from the elevators they are in a perfect location. we did not hear a thing as far as commotion. I believe we were on the 6th floor.

It's an either/or thing....unless it's REALLY rough, you're not going to notice much difference in motion. Pick the deck closest to where you'll spend most of your daytime hours.

We just returned from a 4 night on the Freedom (Nov. 28). We took our son and wife, daughter and husband, and 4 grands ages 8,10,12, and 12. We had 4 balconies on deck 9. 9312 and 9314 connected and 9316 and 9318 connected. We opened all the dividers between the balconies and had 1 large balcony. Perfect rooms and very, very happy with the 9th deck and with the ship. Husband says if he had known how much fun having the whole family along would be, we would have done this long ago. This was our favorite ship of the 10 we have been on!

WE sailed in December on FOS in inside stateroom deck 9 midship. VEry convenient to the adult pool deck and also promendade deck. We loved it, very quiet, and we did not feel much movement. WE are going again in Sept. Our friends are going on deck 9 where we were. This time we are going to try deck 6 on overlooking the Promenade deck. I think that may be a little noisy, but we are late owls!

We just got back from the Freedom on Sunday (Jan. 2-9th) and were in 6305 (the Ben and Jerry's Sweet) and my parents were in the adjoining cabin. You can only put two in each promenade room so that may be something to consider. We had heard about a lot of noise in the room from a door slamming and we only heard that right before and after parades or events and once and a while. It wasn't disruptive. The air conditioning in our room was a bit louder than home but I am very sensitive to sounds and need pretty much absolute quiet to sleep. I was prepared with ear plugs and was fine (I even sleep with earplugs in at home sometimes!). It was a nice room and wasn't to over done. We moved all of the cow sculptures and stuff to the top shelf over the TV (that we wouldn't have used anyway) and made a lot more room for ourselves.

 

The perks you get from the room are, 1 free medium ben and Jerry's dish of ice cream per day per person and the benefits of the concierge lounge. We didn't really use the concierge except to help us get ice show tickets. We received two tickets for whatever ice show we wished to attend. On the first night we received a nice sized fruit tray, the first formal night we received a cheese plate and the last formal night we received little chocolates and pastries. Overall it was a great experience!

We sailed Freedom November 2009 with our son and daughter-in-law. We were in side-by-side balcony staterooms on deck six (6352 & 6354). We did not want adjoining. They were a few steps from the elevators and a fantastic location. We could walk down one deck to the Promenade or two decks to the other entertainment deck on 4. We were careful not to book on top of Pharoah's nightclub or the Bull and Bear where there could be late music. If sailing Freedom class again, we would first look to see availability in that area.

Thank you to all who responded to the post. Since we are looking at multiple rooms, I will check again which are most convenient. Sounds like there were no issues on either deck. A few of the cruisers will be cruising for the first time and despite attempts to soothe their concerns, they are apprehensive about getting sea sick from movement. The Ben & Jerry's room sounds fun. I did not know about this.

When we were on the Freedom last week it was not the smoothest sailing and you could feel it anywhere. We felt it in the casino, studio b, our rooms on 6 and the pool deck. My aunt gets seasick easily and was ok though.
