Rick&Jenny Posted January 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Does anyone know what's up with Princess comedian Billy Vader? Is he still making the rounds on Princess ships or is he in retirement now? His show was so funny and right on the mark. Rick&Jenny:):)

boone2 Posted January 14, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Hopefully as far away from any ship I'm sailing on, he's horrendous - right up there with Bert Stratton in terms of entertainment Terry
scranger Posted January 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Thought he was funny the first time we saw him; second time not so much.
paul1268 Posted January 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Unfortunately he was on the Emerald in December. Started out with nearly a packed house and ended up with maybe 100. Kept forgetting lines.
DGSFlorida Posted January 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Hopefully as far away from any ship I'm sailing on, he's horrendous - right up there with Bert Stratton in terms of entertainmentTerry If you want some really bad entertainment, don't forget "The Gaucho Man" who often shows up on South American cruises. That guy is a one-man "let's find the exit, pronto."
aquilegia Posted January 14, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Thought he was funny the first time we saw him; second time not so much. My sentiments exactly. He's probably worth seeing once, but I was sorry I'd bothered the second time.
kool kruiser Posted January 14, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Unfortunately he was on the Emerald in December. Started out with nearly a packed house and ended up with maybe 100. Kept forgetting lines. Ditto in October. Surprising as his jokes are always the same ones anyway:D.
yukongold Posted January 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2011 I understand that his brother Darth is a better, but his humor is a little on the dark side.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted January 14, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2011 He was on the Emerald in December but thankfully not on the Emetald currently. We bought he was awful. Rollin Jay Moore seems to be the resident comedian, and he is much, much better and tries to update his material continually.
scranger Posted January 14, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Perhaps like other "older" members of the fleet, he's been transferred to P&O.
sailing sue Posted January 14, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2011 When we sailed the Emerald in early November, he was there and did the schtick with Tim the CD. It was just awful. A lot of people left the theatre. Hope not to see him on our next Emerald cruise!
Northender Posted January 14, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Never had the pleasure of seeing him;) Not to venture too far off topic, too bad Princess dot com would not post the entertainment for upcoming cruises. Or have a link to the folks who entertain and find their schedule. Just a thought:)
DrivesLikeMario Posted January 14, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 14, 2011 He must appeal to a certain age group, like those over 70. Frankly, we just didn't "get it" with him. His comedy routine was the worst we have ever seen anywhere. It was painful to sit through. Many people got up and left in the middle of it. His comedy seemed to please only a few older people in the crowd.

Rick&Jenny Posted January 14, 2011 Author #16 Share Posted January 14, 2011 Saw and met Billy 2 years ago on the Emerald. He's a funny, friendly, down to earth, and nice man. Lighten up a little folks.:) Happy to give some an opportunity to vent here. Rick&Jenny:D:D
Northender Posted January 14, 2011 #17 Share Posted January 14, 2011 We have, in the past, recieved e mails from Princess about two weeks before the cruise with a schedule of shows and entertainment. Thanks. I was thinking more along the lines of when searching for a cruise, checking out the entertainment ahead of time. IE - there is a band that I really like and if I knew what ship they would be on, it might help me make a decision to take that particular cruise. cruzizzy Posted February 5, 2011 #21 Share Posted February 5, 2011 Saw him twice on the Emerald Princess in 2008 and he was very funny and had a captive audience. Sorry to hear he's less liked recently; perhaps he's slipping with age. I laughed so hard when I saw him one night that my ribs hurt the next day. Was hoping we'd see him in Jan. on the Ruby but he was not there. Didn't like the comedian they had very much: not really a funny guy.
truckmaker Posted February 5, 2011 #22 Share Posted February 5, 2011 Is he really someone on these boards who keeps bringing this question up? I'm just sayin'.
BballinQT24 Posted February 5, 2011 #23 Share Posted February 5, 2011 We saw him on the Emerald and December and didn't like him at all. It was like they were trying to force him on us in the theatre with him as a part of the first nights welcome aboard show, his own show, and a part of the farewell show on the last night. He wasn't funny and it was like he was trying to entertain himself more than the audience. Not good.
mhensley25 Posted July 18, 2011 #24 Share Posted July 18, 2011 He was on the Sea Princess in June. First part of the show was good, but it went downhill from there. The schtick with the cruise director was beyond horrendous, but mostly because of the cruise director.
cantwaitfornextcruise Posted July 18, 2011 #25 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Billy is funny the first time, but he needs to change his act, which he doesn't, not wanting anyone out of work but I do so hope he's been flushed down the toilet with his toilet joke. We are on the Emerald again in Feb hope new acts are onboard
