Host Sharon Posted February 9, 2011 #27 Share Posted February 9, 2011 It would be a real pity to replace a mid-size ship with yet another over 100,000 tons !!
Single Cruiser Posted February 9, 2011 #28 Share Posted February 9, 2011 If they are not filling berths as it is then I can't see them replacing a medium ship with a larger one!
KarenR_UK Posted February 10, 2011 #29 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Grand Princess to Undergo Dramatic Transformation During Spring DrydockMakeover Will Include Piazza Atrium, Tea Lounge, Pizzeria and Nightclub from http://www.princess.com/news/article.jsp?newsArticleId=na1139 "This is the largest makeover we've ever undertaken for any of our ships," said Jan Swartz, seems unlikely to me that they'd be doing this if she was transferring anywhere in the near future
tom_uk Posted February 10, 2011 #30 Share Posted February 10, 2011 from http://www.princess.com/news/article.jsp?newsArticleId=na1139 seems unlikely to me that they'd be doing this if she was transferring anywhere in the near future I believe they've done, or are doing, a makeover for all of the original Grand Princess class ships; Grand, Golden & Star. They need it, I think: they're ten years or more old. Also the design of the class has changed through various iterations. I think therefore that the older ones are beginning to suffer in comparison with the newer ones, and it may be that they feel it's necessary just to protect the original Grand class ships' present market position. Of course, in a couple of years or so they'll have the first of two brand new ships, bigger than the Grand class, and I still think that's the time they'll off-load one or more of the older ships. Which one(s) is open to question, I agree; perhaps it might be one or both of the Japanese pair, Sapphire and Diamond. But like everybody else, I'm speculating.....
