Craps - Max Odds Bets; Payouts

Upcoming cruise on Carnival Freedom. Husband and I have played craps in Las Vegas but not on a cruise. We are used to the 3x, 4x 5x odds with the payouts 2-1, 3-2 6-5 (on 4/10. 5/9. 6/8 respecitvely). What will the max odds on a Carnival Freedom craps table be and do they pay out the same way as described above? I am referring to betting the pass line with max odds and come bets.

I apologize if this has probably been covered before as I attempted to read through some old threads but they are so lengthy!

Thanks!

The payouts on Pass line odds and Come bet odds are the same no matter where you go. (2:1 3:2 and 6:5) It is the amount of odds that you're allowed to take that changes. I believe Carnival allows 2 xs odds, but I might be wrong.

If you want better than the 3-4-5 odds when you're in Las Vegas, head to Main Street Station or Sam's Town, they offer 20 xs odds, Casino Royale has 100xs odds.

I can't be 100% sure, but since Princess and Carnival are under the same corporate "umbrella" you'd think the odds were the same. On Princess it has been 2X odds since at least December 2009. It was interesting this past September on the Crown that when I asked the boxman if he'd allow a $25 odds bet on a $10 pass for the points 6 and 8 (called "Full double odds" and keeps the chips to two colors only) he didn't really comprehend what I as getting at. Sigh! I'll try again this coming August.

Freedom last Oct and Imagination last week. 2 x Odds.

Andy stated " I asked the boxman if he'd allow a $25 odds bet on a $10 pass for the points 6 and 8 ".

I asked the same question and the answer was NO.:(

On the bright side, on the Imagination, i had a really nice roll :):):). I rolled for almost 40 minutes. Being a 5 dollar bettor i did well but some people had some real big sausages on the rail. They gave me a "STANDING" ovation when i finally sevened out. Strictly 2 x odds on Carnival.

We did the first Aruba cruise on the Freedom out of Ft. Lauderdale in Oct. and I lost my butt at craps. Had a blast with a 20 min and 15 min roll but that was it. There didn't seem to be any shooters on the cruise.

Oh, I did throw two $5 YO's for the boys that week and they were really appreciative. Makes it fun for everyone.

I just got back from Las Vegas. Casino Royale has three craps tables..1 @ 100X odds & two @ 20X odds...plus you don't pay the vig on the BUY 4 and/or 10 until it hits. They also let you take up to a max of $2,500 in free odds whereas the Main Street Station max free odds are $1,000. Best game around.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO odiesam: On Carnival ships they only allow double odds. I have experienced 3,4,5x odds on Celebrity Cruise Line. People say that NCL now has that too. However, when I was on NCL it was only double odds. RCCL allows single odds.

The payout for getting a number hit is the same no matter where you play. 4/10 pays off at 2-1 on the odds portion of your bet. 5/9 pays off at 3-2 on the odds portion of your bet and the 6/8 pays off at 6-5 on the odds portion of your bet.

Good luck at the craps table and have some fun.

Thanks for the replies. Based on the 2x odds, there could be lots of $1 chips being paid out on some wins - yuck.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO odiesam: if you bet $5 Pass Line/Come with $10 odds on a 4/10 you would collect $20 odds and $5 Pass Line/Come. No singles. On the 5/9 you would get $15 odds and $5 Pass Line/Come. On 6/8 you would recieve $12 odds and $5 Pass Line/Come. Only on odds of the six/eight would you receive singles and not that many.

A week's worth of play and you only bet twice for the dealers. That sir, makes you a STIFF.

If you don't want the $1 chips, I'm SURE the dealers would be happy to take them off your hands.

You are absolutely wrong Mr. That was what I hit for them in a 20 and 15 min session. I always have the boys/girls in the game. By the second day we are all good friends.:D

MrCo9,

Let me ask you this. On a 5, 6, 7, 8, day cruise, how much do you feel is a good tip to the boys?

I'm not a dog like you, but I do know how to treat the boys and they do appreciate it.:D

Who exactly are you calling a dog and why?

The amount of the tips would be dependent upon your buy-ins, your wins and how long you played. I plan on tipping 15% of my buy-in or my winnings, whichever is greater. I have had sessions where my only tip was whatever I had at the end of a losing session that did not meet the table minimum. I have also had sessions where the dealers won as much if not more than me. One of my memorable recent sessions I started with $54 across, ended up with $1,000 in the rail and $600 in action when I 7'ed out, the dealers locked up $400 and tey had $300 across.

I like to have them in action with me, that is why when I make bets for them I control the bets. I may start off with as little as $3 each on the 5 and 9 for them if I'm starting with $32 across, or as much as $32 or $64 across with the change when I'm pressing my numbers.
