gooch47 Posted January 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I know that it could vary from ship to ship, but in general do you find the princess beds to be:
LARGIN Posted January 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Guess we have been lucky as we have had no problems with Princess beds.
gooch47 Posted January 27, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted January 27, 2011 We haven't either except for one that was caved in. But that was in 2001.
loliola Posted January 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Personally, I slept like a baby!
David&Heather Posted January 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Beds were just about perfect for us but even if you could choose your matress type on the cruise personaliser and they had outlets for all the major coffee brands (both European and US) on every ship some people would still find something to complain about. Then again some people are only happy when moaning so if Princess made the ships perfect they would never have an enjoyable cruise:mad:
Anubi Posted January 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I don't have any specific recollections of it being bad. I was tired, I slept. ;)
Northender Posted January 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I am usually asleep within 10 minutes......:)
njdevil08 Posted January 27, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2011 There always seems to be lots of grumbling on the boards here but on CB we found the mattress to be good, not the most comfortable ever but certainly nothing noticeably bad (and we're soft mattress people). From what I've read, however, it appears that may vary from ship to ship.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 27, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Sorry to say I have abandoned Princess for the foreseeable future due to their hard mattresses. I've experienced backaches upon waking on 4 sailings of 3 different ships: Star, Golden, and Caribbean Princess. I was reluctantly willing to just live with it until I experienced the much better bedding on my HAL cruise last fall. I now realize there are better options.....
Pam in CA Posted January 27, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I think they're fine. People say the love the HAL beds but I find them very uncomfortable, way too soft and without much support. My mattress at home is extra firm with a pillow top, so the Princess beds are fine with me.
wizard-of-roz Posted January 27, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I'm rocked to sleep, I'm on a cruise! All's good!
1 HappyCruiser Posted January 27, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2011 We haven't either except for one that was caved in. But that was in 2001. Like yourself, I can adapt to just about anything except a mattress that has a concave hole in it.
paul929207 Posted January 27, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 27, 2011 No problem with the beds on Princess. Sleep great.
donna5 Posted January 27, 2011 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2011 They need a rocking mechanism you can engage when the ship is in calm waters.:)
WeBeGone Posted January 27, 2011 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2011 We get a foam topper which helps a lot!
u2cruiser Posted January 27, 2011 #16 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Beds are fine for us. Very comfortable :) ETA Interesting poll results so far.
Caribbean Sunsets Posted January 27, 2011 #17 Share Posted January 27, 2011 So far...so good. I've been happy with the mattress and not needed a topper.
shoreham01 Posted January 27, 2011 #18 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I sleep very well and find the beds fine. We have a hard mattress with a 3 inch memory foam topper at home. Last cruise we asked for an egg crate just to see what all the fuss was about, it was good so probably would ask for it again but it would not be essential to us. Times Prince Posted January 27, 2011 #19 Share Posted January 27, 2011 The mattresses are fine. It is the duvet that makes it difficult to sleep - I'm either too hot with it or too cold without. I wish we still had an option for sheets and blankets.
lljost Posted January 27, 2011 #20 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I'm on vacation...I never have a problem sleeping.
AndyTheK Posted January 27, 2011 #21 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Go to bed late enough and you'll never have a problem sleeping. DW and I do just fine. No egg crates, no fooling with A/C.
gooch47 Posted January 27, 2011 Author #22 Share Posted January 27, 2011 The reason I wanted to try a poll was because people who are unhappy with something will complain about it and rightly so. But people who are happy about something seldom mention it. Looks like it is about 50/50 though. I really thought the ones who didn't like them would be way higher. heidik Posted January 27, 2011 #23 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I experienced different mattresses on the same cruise - on the Coral a couple years ago, I had a balcony cabin and the mattress was horrible - I did not sleep the entire 11 days -- but my father and brother were on the same cruise in a mini-suite and their mattresses were very comfortable....... I guess you never know!
Tralynn Posted January 27, 2011 #24 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I'm okay with the beds on Princess, but I must say I think Carnival has the most comfortable beds at sea.
jean s Posted January 27, 2011 #25 Share Posted January 27, 2011 I just find them hard or sometimes really lumpy. I wonder how often they change them because I often find them sagging and uncomfortable.
