Sapphire princess must do's

Recently off the Golden and boy did I love the overall service, Crown Grill, International Cafe and fresh brewed coffee in the Piazza. Now I am booked on the Sapphire and want to know what not to miss and what tricks to get the most out of being on a ship, without the same features/upgrades.

Just got off the Sapphire and totally loved her, especially the horseshoe-shaped, stepped arrangement of the aft pools. It would have been nice to have the IC's chicken salad, but the Sapphire's pizza seemed especially good, and tea is served in one of the smaller restaurants, the Pacific Moon, which made it seem extra nice. Not many secrets I can think of, though if you want a near-deserted, clubby little public room to hang out in, head downstairs from the Fusion Lounge to the Wakeview Bar.

Another question, anyone know if the TV's on Sapphire have an AUX port for plugging in other devices?

We were on the January 15 cruise to Mexico. Prior to the cruise, there were a few posts that the TVs were being switched out to flat screens. Our group of 14 had 6 cabins scattered about the ship. When we left the ship on Jan 22, none of our cabins had a flat screen.

Our TVs did have auxiliary video and audio inputs which I used to view video that I had taken. I cannot speak for the new flat screens.

Hi, just got off the Sapphire on Saturday, it was my 1st cruise and we were very, very satisfied with almost everything.

About the coffee.....I purchased the coffee card after reading about it here and I don't really think it was worth the $27.90, (yes $24.00 & tax/tip!). You can get coffee in the Buffet or any bar and add flavored/powered creamer of your own and it's just as good IMO.

We really enjoyed the Trident Grill and had the Hot Dogs, burgers and fries several times, very good and the frostie bar is right there and also a nice sweet treat while you are in the pool areas.

I had heard that our trip was not sold out and we thought there there were lots of cozy places to rest, read or just get away from it all. We especially enjoyed the Wheelhouse bar. The smaller pools on the back side were nice, quite and gave a good wind break when you are at sea. The covered pool in the middle of the Lido deck was a good (warmer) location to park yourself but it did get rather "loud" if there's kids in the pool.

Just a few other tips if you will indulge me, haha. the casino......it's fun to gamble, (easy to set up your account) but..... I pumped in a bit on the slots and they are tight, tight, tight. Keep track of your bar-bill! It's so easy to order and lose track of what you're "enjoying". we know next time to bring a little more $$$ to cover this. You'll have a blast!

Thanks everyone for the help. Having only been on the Grand and the Golden with M.U.T.S, it is going to be strange not having a jumbo-tron blaring all day long. Oh well, guess I will just have to relax and vacation in peace:eek:

I am grateful for no MUTS. I find the noise level during the day too loud from it on the other ships we have cruised on. I am happy the Sapphire still does not have it. JMHO...

They had a waffle station at the ice cream place in the morning and the waffles were fabulous!

We just discovered this on the Jan 5th cruise and OMG :D I love waffles in the morning and Poor Mr.Qt was begging me to eat in the MDR or the HC after a few days.

I am a big Princess pizza fan and I do think Sapphire has the best pizza out of the Diamond, Sapphire and Caribbean.

We were in the Baja deck (B203) and got our flat screen TV about 6-7 days into our cruise.

One thing I like about the Sapphire is that it has a covered pool area. When weather is too hot or chilly, it's a nice place to go. I often take my plate from the buffet and eat out there. On the second level around the covered pool area, I think it's called the Conservatory, there are loungers and hardly anyone goes up there.

I am an avid reader and want to know how you found the library on the Saphire.

We have a lot of sea days and I don't want to have to bring a lot of books because of the weight.

Thanks

I'm an avid reader too and didn't want to bring along 10 books for my last 14 day cruise, so I bought a Kindle. Loaded it with 28 books! Now I wouldn't cruise or travel without it. Highly recommend an e-book reader for any avid reader.

While I was on the Golden to Hawaii, they would have these impromptu unadvertised food trays pop up around at different times and I missed nearly all of them. I certainly didn't starve, but would have like to try these goodies had I known they would be out and at which time. Anyone know when and where on the Sapphire, they do stuff like that?
