OK you shopping divas, what did you get on your black Friday deals?

Nothing. There has never been anything important enough for me to

try and get on Black Friday. Shopping on line, possibly but I have never

gone shopping on the day after Thanksgiving.

Actually, I was at my sister's house yesterday for a wonderful dinner:)

and we were talking when we were kids (she is a bit older than me) so

we not really "kids at the same time"......but I remember no stores ever

being open on Thanksgiving............now? It is not even Black Friday

anymore:rolleyes:........did you see how many stores are open on Thanksgiving

Day?.......I am thankful I can shop at other times of the year.

LOL, It doesn't bother me anymore. I have joined in. Normally I buy for the house - replacing some small appliances and stuff. It's fun to me to get out on thanksgiving or black Friday now that the kids are older and I don't need the popular crap. LOL. Especially since it's more civilized now. Ie,,,,the wrist bands and tickets walmart has been doing the last few years.

Last year I did get 3 TV's but it was because they had the tickets again at wal-mart and people were not shoving each other in line for them. Actually my store was passing out tickets 1 hr early to keep from getting a line formed and that was a win win to me.

With more online stores joining in on the sales too - I shopped Belk black Friday last year and didn't leave the house for it at 3 am.

I did go to walmart last night because we were out of some hba items so I got 2 of the specials but I am not planning on getting out today. Did purchase some one line things, but that's probably it for me and Black Friday this year.

Anyone get any cute accessories or clothes? I need something to go with a new dress I got. I would take a picture but black doesn't photo well with my camera. It's a black, short dress with 1 shoulder strap made to look like flowers. Pleat like gathers over the bust and sheer material flowing from the empire waist. Now I need some accessories for it. Thinking I will pick up the strap detail and find something to match that. I saw a daisy like bracelet in black and white stones before - just can't remember where.

I just went to Bealls today. I was in and out fast. I went to the back of the store where they had another check out open that people did not know about. I waited about 8 minutes on line. The other lines were full of people.

Traffic was the same today as any other day. Most people would go off the island to the mall or to other stores.

Abercram: CONGRATULATIONS! one more time!! What a wonderful surprise...now remember - it would be only right to invite all CCFs to your wedding;)!

We had a delightful and delicious Thanksgiving at DS's house. DDL goes all out in cooking this yearly feast for 24 of us.

She and I did a tiny bit of shopping on Black Friday - but not for anything special. (My Christmas shopping is done, gifts wrapped.)

BUT - in her favorite shop, the Vera Bradley rep was there...and she was a good salesperson! I bought a crossbody (pink, lime, grey print) with a matching wallet, and a black & white scarf. The scarf has gone into the suitcase and will be perfect for Formal Night. Also bought DDL a wristlet (she deserved it after such a good meal!)

Final Countdown is underway! Only a few item on the To Do List. Weds will be here quickly:cool::)!

I just found out about all the vera Bradley things available out there. I won a bag a few years ago in a casino but didn't understand what the fuss was. It was pretty, but it didn't interest me at that time. Saw someone wearing a similar bag color but in a crossbody style on a cruise ship and loved that. In fact I just looked up what the style and the pattern I had won last month. Rhythm and blues. Now I have cross body bags in petal pink and rhythm & blues.

Have a passport holder coming. I really really want an umbrella now. It's addictive!

I swear by my Vera bag! I use two. I have the convertible baby bag. It's a perfect "fit under the air plane seat" bag. It's also waterproof inside so great for the beach. It can be a backpack or shoulder bag. Lots of pockets inside and out! My second is my purse, which fits into the carryon's outside pouch if need be on plane boarding. It has an outside zip with credit card slots and money slot, no need to get inside purse at all. It has an adjustable strap and my iPad mini fits in it perfectly. Either outside slot or inside when I'd like it to be more secure. It is my cruise go to duo. It's a mini hipster, but there are several hipsters and you need to look for the one with outside zip for CC and cash. Love them! Have the purse in several colors. All my cruise buddies now have them. Heather is my go to pattern. Purple and aqua are my favorite colors.

For Black Friday 3 friends and I always take off Friday morning early and shop all the way to Indianapolis. We hit two malls and one shopping area before heading downtown to spend the night in a hotel that has original train cars converted to rooms. It's the old Union Station. We fight the traffic of the tree lighting and pick a different restaurant each time and then a bar or two before bed at 12:30 am. We always have a blast! Laughed so hard. Sometimes it's more than 4, but this year just us. We shopped a little today and headed home. I fell into bed (I drove) around 4 for a much needed nap!! I had 37 people for dinner on Thursday!

My big purchase was a small camera with wifi. Best Buy door buster, 299.99 for $149.00. DH will take to Haiti on mission before we try it out on our Jan cruise. I also bought an Amazon Stick, just out two wks ago, for my brother. Can't wait to try it out and get him started. My large camera is just to big for us old folks to drag around anymore! This new one will take better night pictures than my iPhone. Headed to bed, 2:11 am. That nap was too good!!

Awesome shopping trip sunnydaygirl! I had a core group that shopped like that for 10 or more years. Things happen but I need to move on and get another shopping tradition going on.

Yeah on vera Bradley. I have 1 hipster and 3 mini hipsters. I like those mini hipsters best because of the strap type - not the metal chain - just the narrow material strap.

That convertible diaper bag is nice. Exactly what I have been needing. Wished I known about it when I got the messenger bag. Was looking for something to use as an overnight bag for my meds and junk and as a carryon for the plane. That will fit under my seat nicely and the messenger bag didn't

Next thing on my list for sure!!!!!

Yes, it definitely would work for meds!! It's good for overnighter too. I picked out my pattern but held off because they are expensive! But scored when I walked into a Vera store and they'd got a call that morning to put that pattern at 30% off. They had one in my choice, jumped on it! I keep waiting on my pattern to be discontinued as I live just an hour away from their yearly warehouse sale. Haven't gone in years but might if it retires.

Vera Bradley is so-o-o popular! DDL has several and has even worn out the shoulder strap on one of them:rolleyes:. My issue is that they are mostly patterns and so much of my wardrobe is multi-colored. (Don't know the pattern, will look online.)

I'm hoping to use my new one alot since it's lime and hot pink - 2 colors that appear in several cruise outfits.

The shop where I bought the Vera B items had a promotion if you spent XXX dollars - and I did...so got a duffle bag. It folds up to a very small size and is in the suitcase to be used to carry beach towels, sunscreen, etc.

Since this is Giving Tuesday, I took several bags of Christmas decorations to the Goodwill Store...and expected to make a quick sweep through the store...

came home with 5 tops: Ralph Lauren, Ann Taylor, a perfect LL Bean cardigan for winter and a Tommy Hilfiger. Ah, there's always the Next Cruise:cool:!

And speaking of the Next Cruise - we leave for Florida tomorrow:cool::)! DH and I are counting down the hours. He just printed our boarding passes and checked to see that the flight today departed and landed on time. Fingers crossed that will be the case tomorrow.

No more posts till we return! Photos will be posted. Keep the conversation going CCFs!

I just received Travel Smiths casual light weight knee length black skirt - on sale of course.

I am so happy with material and fit, I would like to take it on my upcoming 20 day Caribbean cruise but not sure it would work color wise. Any ideas? I was thinking cotton tees but also think a black skirt may look out of place. I do have other suitable outfits but really was pleased with the skirt but perhaps I should just save it for our European cruise.

Thoughts anyone?

Sharon

I have it as well.

I took it on my 35 day back to back and loved it with the shirt options I had.

I wore it with shells and camisoles and fly away cardigans.

But this weekend it's not joining me on the Dream.

Getting ready for my cruise and with all the purses that I have I did not have a very small black bag to use on casual nights. The ticket price was $45. but we never pay full price, got it for $15. It is nice and small, just enough room for the little things I carry at night on board ship.

The cruise on Explorer of the Seas was wonderful:cool:! The embarkation was horrible!! Folks who cruise out of Port Canaveral regularly, blamed the disorganization on Explorer. Those of us who have cruised on EX several times, blamed it on the Port terminal procedure. Whichever it was doesn't really matter - we arrived at the terminal by taxi at 10:30 AM and didn't board until noon:confused:.

There was a scheduled rocket launch at NASA that morning and, no doubt, caused some of the backup. Disappointed that the launch didn't go off until the next day.

But the Cruise was magnificent! We basked in the tropical sunshine and enjoyed the 4 ports of call. I had only a couple items that didn't get worn.

Since there were many senior citizens, fashion was mostly conservative. No inappropriate T-shirts or clothing that was a couple sizes too small.

We have decided not to cruise again in December. The ship is decorated with pointsettias and a lovely large tree, but after 3 pre-Christmas cruises, we want to stay at home next year...so I will be cancelling the December 2015 cruise...but will look for one in January...

Meanwhile, I'm getting caught up on holiday chores and will post some photos in the next day or two.

RE: Black skirts - neutral bottoms are good choices since you can be as bright as you like on tops and accessories. And, as I think back to how people were dressed, I tend to look from the waist up!

I won't start the Packing Process for the March cruise until the end of January. Family will be visiting for a weekend and the Cruise Room will be sleeping quarters...but after that, I will be pleased to start all over again:cool::)!

I'm starting to envy my DH. He made a list of everything he left in florida at DD's. So packing this week was pretty easy for him. I did not. I know if it's not here, it's there, but afraid my memory will fail. I have to be packed by Monday. And present bundled up to take. Our car loaded with DH's belongings stored at our house. A real car full. Think I'm panicking!

sunnydaygirl: Trying to get Christmas finished and packing done makes double stress. You have done lots of cruises and will be just fine...even if you forget to pack an item or 2. The holidays and cruise will be happy and relaxed. It's the preliminary chores that gives one the jitters!

Here's a photo of one of my Sea Day outfits - Talbot's blouse & shorts, my favorite Naot sandals (they are still available from zappos, I might order another pair to keep on standby!) Lots of photos were being taken by the tree.

This photo was taken on the helicopter pad. Needless to say, the wind was strong. Every CCF has a pair of white Capris (I should look for a backup pair...). Love my Dooney & Bourke cupcake purse!

Sunnydaygirl,

girl - you got this! You are so organized and this is a piece of cake for you. Just take a deep breath and relax.

I just ordered a gift that was canceled and paid for 2 day shipping. Had to because of course it was for a kid. But I have it replaced. Now to get ready for the Dec 28th cruise.
