cherylandtk Posted February 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Standard size cabin and standard size balcony, just like nearly every other balcony cabin on the ship except location. :) Did you have a more specific question?
Pam in CA Posted February 15, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Standard size cabin and standard size balcony, just like nearly every other balcony cabin on the ship except location. :) Did you have a more specific question?Right. Small, covered (but not private) balcony with two chairs and a small table; BD is either far forward or far aft on Baja deck. With few exceptions, standard balcony cabins are exactly the same as standard oceanview cabins only with a small balcony.
Blondy1 Posted February 15, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2011 I was just curious we are new to balconies on princess and ours is aft. Just wondering what the opinions were?
hightownCO Posted February 15, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Hi Blondy...I like aft cabins best. The nearer to the elevator's the better. Baja deck has cabins both below and above so they should be quiet.
IECalCruiser Posted February 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Right. Small, covered (but not private) balcony with two chairs and a small table; BD is either far forward or far aft on Baja deck. With few exceptions, standard balcony cabins are exactly the same as standard oceanview cabins only with a small balcony. This is only true for the smaller Grand class ships. On the 3,100 passenger ships with the Riviera deck (Caribbean , Crown, etc.) BD cabins are in the middle of Baja deck (BE cabins are for and aft) and for and aft on the Aloha deck. OP has an aft BD cabin on Baja so must be on one of the 2,600 passenger ships and your comments apply. Just don't want to confuse others on the larger ships. cruisehome Posted February 16, 2011 #11 Share Posted February 16, 2011 we are on baja deck bd cabin on emerald princess right near the elevators i like this class because the balconies are covered - don't really need much room to sit on the balcony carol
champagne lover Posted February 16, 2011 #12 Share Posted February 16, 2011 Are all the balcony cabins the same layout as in the Princess brochure and on the Princess website - as you enter the room, the bathrooms are on the left and the bed comes out from the left hand side wall? Or is every second cabin a mirror - image? Just trying to picture our cabin. Also, I see that there is clothes hanging space just outside the bathroom - is there much drawer space or is it only what is below the desk / dressing table? caber Posted February 16, 2011 #13 Share Posted February 16, 2011 They are either left or right, alternately. We had a BD balcony on Grand. We could actually get 4 of us sitting on it, if we brought out the stool and chair from the cabin.

Yes, sounds like the right layout but like you said it could also be a mirror image of that depending on which cabin you get. There is very little drawer space. There are a couple drawers by the bathroom where the safe is, a couple drawers at each side of the bed and a couple more at the desk area.
Nanatravel Posted February 16, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 16, 2011 Your description sounds accurate. There is a lot of hanging space with a shelf above where the Life Jackets will be; also good for hats, beach towels, beach bags, etc. Plus there is a closet in this area where the safe is located which has at least 4 shelves for folded clothes. Hubby usually gets that space for his shorts and t-shirts, etc. I get the draws at the vanity. I bring some plastic clip hangers and hang up my shorts/capri's with tops etc. This way things don't get wrinkled in small draws. There is plenty of storage space for 2 people. Had an inside cabin with 3, and it was a little tight but do able.
OPSnorkeler Posted February 17, 2011 #16 Share Posted February 17, 2011 We've been on CB twice and Emerald once. We've always had a BD balcony on Baja deck. BD on these two ships is midship. We prefer Baja because the balconies are covered and we like the midship location.
serenity27 Posted February 18, 2011 #17 Share Posted February 18, 2011 We prefer Baja because the balconies are covered and we like the midship location. Is this true for the Golden as well? We are currently assigned B401/ BC and prefer a covered balcony. Thanks for your help!

Every other cabin is a mirror image. Here is a photo of the closet/dressing area outside the bathroom door. TONS of storage. In addition, there are two nightstands, each with a shelf and two good-sized drawers and the desk has three drawers. You really don't need any more.
