We will be sailing on the Ruby Princess this May. Unfortunately this is only 1/2 day stop. We have seen Monte Carlo, Monaco, & Eve. The only other tour offered is to Nice. Would you recommend seeing Nice or again seeing

the the places we have been to before

Nice is nice! (can't resist). You seem to be stuck on tours so it makes sense for you to choose a tour that does some new things. That being said, you can take the bus from Monte Carlo to Nice for 1 Euro (each way). Once in Nice (the final bus stop is at the Gare Routiere bus station) you can walk from the bus station to the old town part of Nice and explore the shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. There are also some decent museums in Nice if you are a museum person. If we were in your situation we would go to Nice just so I could have lunch on the Cours Selaya and dine on their wonderful fish soup and perhaps some Moules et Frites.

We had the same challenge last year with the Ruby Princess Grand Med tight day in Monaco. But we did make it to Nice and I'm happy we did. Just get a good plan in place and an early start to your day. Plan extra carefully if you wish to include the Chagall Museum, which was a highlight for us.

Not sure what you mean to plan extra carefully if we plan to vsit the Chagall Museum. Our cruise in early May includes a stop in Monte Carlo (11 AM to 11 PM), and we are planning to start with a bus ride to Nice and the Chagall Museum. Please elaborate.

Actually, for us, between Eze, Monaco, & Nice, Nice was our hands down favorite! Beautiful flower market, gorgeous alley way shops, fun to watch the locals doing their daily shopping & choosing from freshly plucked chickens (with the heads still on, of course.)

Sorry, that was meant for OP who has the short 1/2 day (7 am to 2 pm) day in Nice on the Ruby Princess. It was not meant for you. If you have twelve hours in port,the museum will already be open by the time you get there and you will have plenty of time to get lunch, go to the museum and then see much more of Nice before heading back.

 

For those on the Ruby Princess Grand Med itinerary, it's more of a challenge and important to get to Nice early, do some sightseeing along the Promenade, Cours Saleya and then go to the Chagall before checking bus times and heading back. While time is tight, if you can plan well, Nice is a great way to spend your 1/2 day in port.
