Serenade MDR food question

Recommended Posts

We are taking our first cruise on the Radiance Class ship Serenade of the Seas and we had thought about eating at the specialty restaurant and Windjammer instead of the MDR but after reading all the latest posts about the MDR food on the Serenade we are thinking we might be making a mistake.

Would you say that the quality and experience is different from the bigger ships? We were on Liberty in December and not very happy with the meals.

Thanks

The menus are the same on EVERY ship...of course, the chef is different...but you can expect pretty much the same thing on every ship.

I can't imagine eating in the buffet and expecting it to be better than the dining room...buffet food is, well, buffet food!

We love SR and think it usually has great service in the MDR and the food is usually pretty good. I would do Chops one night, Portofino one night and windjammer or maybe sea view another night if you don't want MDR all nights. There are a few of the menus we aren't crazy over. I would do other dining on nights 3-5 but MDR nights 1,2,6, and 7.

On our Serenade cruise last year we had food ranging from good to very good in the MDR. DH and I always ordered different things so we could sample a variety. Some were better than others, but nothing was bad.

Don't forget, if you dislike something you may ask for a substitute or replacement.

Happy cruise!
