Spirit Review 3/13-20/11

Your honesty must have saved the casino a LOT of money. They seemed to treat you VERY well after the "incident" that I am dying to know about. ;)

Long story short: They overpaid me in my winnings the first day of the casino, and I returned the overage. What I returned to them was way less than what I ended up getting back with the drink cards, bottle of wine, and dinner! So I was rewarded for doing the right thing, even though I hadn't planned it that way. They were very surprised that I returned what wasn't mine, which I found to be a sad commentary on people in general. :o

Yeah, I wish they would come back to Houston. Despite some of the issues we had I would be willing to give them another try. I don't have any interest though of driving all the way to NO again; so they would have to come in order for me to sail with them. I might be open to flying at some point, but right now I would rather just drive to Galveston.

Living in NW Ar the drive wouldn't be that much different, but we could drive to daughters in Dallas, spend the night and then head to Houston, plus it was just fun, hectic but fun.

I feel lucky that Galveston is so close. I hate being in the car and 9+ hours is more time in a car than I would really like. I would not be a good road trip companion. That is why I like cruises so much, having fun while traveling to your destination ;)

We do not like those drives either, especially a 9 hour one. When you get to 10 or more hours you feel it is ok to stop and spend the night someplace, but 9 hours, it is almost a must to drive striaght through. On the other hand flying has gotten to be such a drag.

Not sure about the chairs. No refrigerators that I know of...we were in a balcony cabin.

A quick question. On the promenade were there any type of lounge chairs? We got spoiled by the wooden ones on the Jewel. Also refrigerators in any rooms

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. I had read some reviews in the past that were not well for this ship or NCL and we can never get excited about trying it. It's a port much closer to us but we have some friends that went on this ship and they said not to go on it.

I know some folks get on here and post good and some post bad and that what you get out of a cruise is what you put into it. We may just have to try NCL next!

This trip got off to rought start but we enjoyed NCL overall; definitely more positives than negatives. I would try them again and the Spirit is a very nice ship. You will never know unless you give it a shot :)

Hi There, my husband and I just cruised last week on this ship. It is a very clean, friendly ship, and the staff show a lot of pride in their ship. We like the flexible meals schedules, and the entertainment was excellent! I always love a balcony, and find that the extra cost is well worth the extra $. This is not a high end cruise, but a lot of friendly passengers (including the spring break crowd!), and I didn't hear any complaints at all!

Thank you for sharing your review. It was well done.

Something to keep in mind. The cruise line does not have control over the embarkation process...that is handled by the Port. Those people who check you in are actually not NCL employees, they are Port employess who are acting as NCL check in agents for the day. Their uniforms are supplied by NCL, but they aren't NCL employees. NCL couldn't realistically have that many employees to only work 1 day per week when the ship is in port.

If you go to the port on Saturday, you will see many of those same employees performing the same duties for Carnival.

It can be tough to separate things, but you generally don't see actual NCL employees until you are on the ship.

Thanks for sharing that. I did not know that and will keep this in mind for future cruises...just in case I ever feel like they did a poor job. (However to date, I haven't experienced anything bad yet)

Great review. I'm considering this ship for September. Did you take any pictures of the ship?
