Spa Cabin Upgrade - Did you get the amenities?

We recently took advantage of a price drop for our category and were able to upgrade to a spa cabin. The Carnival rep said that we may not get the spa amenities b/c we didn't technically pay for them (i.e. we didn't actually book a spa cabin to begin w/ but got upgraded into one.)

Does anyone have experience w/ being upgraded into a spa cabin? Did you have the amenities that typically come w/ a spa cabin (i.e. thalassotherapy pool access, etc.)?

You'd think that we would get the amenities due to the upgrade, but I just want to hear if someone has had a similar experience.

Thanks in advance!!!

I dont think there is a flat out yes or no for you? I have read many posts in the past complaining they got spa cabin as a free upgrade and they did not get the spa amenties, the spa pass specifically.

But I have not read it recently, so maybe they gave it up and allowing it now, as not reading all the complaints as at first.

The amenities for booking a spa category cabin are there if you book that cabin. Now paying to upgrade to a spa category cabin should qualify you to enjoy the perks of the thalasso pool and thermal suite. I do think that if you get a free upgrade from a lower category cabin then you would not.

I would take all of your documentation with you showing you did indeed pay for a spa category upgrade and did not get it for free. I would go to the spa and see what they do/say when you go to use the facilities--be sure to have the slippers and robe on and they should not question you. I was on the Splendor in the spa suite and they didn't swipe my card at no time to see if I qualified to use the facilities or not. I told them I was in a spa category cabin and all was well. They may have swiped the card when I didn't look.....They thought I paid for the pass until they noticed that I had the spa category towel and slippers, so on te 3rd day they gave me the wristband..

Well I guess we'll just have to see what happens! Thanks for posting your experience :)

Carnival Magic Spa staterooms and suites are only available to guests who pay for spa staterooms or suites. In the event that guests are upgraded into the Spa staterooms, they will not be eligible for the additional amenities.

I think not many people are getting free upgrades then.

If you get one as a result of a price drop, then in effect you have paid for it, so then its not a issue. I hardly read of free, out of the blue true upgrades these days, so maybe thats why it has not been a issue.

I am booked on the Magic for a cruise next month. Until today, I had a deluxe ocean view booked through a casino rate-total with taxes was $1100 plus.....Today I called Carnival and spoke with my pvp about the Holiday Rate sale-since I was past last payment, and had not booked E.S.,I was not eligible for any obc, which I knew-he checked to see if I could be upgraded to a balcony-he was able to move me to a spa balcony-or at least a balcony on the spa deck:confused: (which I'm very pleased about, as this will be my 1st balcony-in fact, it would have been my 1st ocean view!:D) but was told, I may not be eligible for the spa amentities. This same (spa) balcony with taxes, is still only $800 plus. Since this thread is several years old, does anyone have any more current/updated information? (The spa amentities would be great, if they were included, but I'd be o.k. with just having a balcony, if they weren't). Thanks:cool:

You won't know until you get to your room. Some will get them and some will not.

I was upsold to a spa cabin earlier this year on the Breeze and I did received the spa amenities for two in the cabin. It was, however, part of the upsell that it specifically included the amenities.

Upsold. Not the same as upgraded for no additional cost.

If they do not give you the amenities can they really expect you to follow the rules about not smoking on the balcony?

I was upgraded to a spa category cabin for next week's Breeze cruise when I called and noticed a price drop. I originally asked for OBC but instead they offered the cabin (8C to Spa level) as it was past the final payment point. I figured that my Platinum status may have played a role in the process.

I was told at the time that my DW and I will receive the perks, but not my son (14) who will be in the cabin with us. If we don't receive them the ship will have at least one disappointed / upset cruiser.

How is this even an issue?

Let's say Jane books an OV in January at $1000 for 2. By August prices drop (which we all know happens) and the spa balconies are now $1000 for 2. Bob sees this online and books the cabin outright, so he will get the amenities. Jane sees the same price and calls her PVP who immediately upgrades her to the spa balcony, which is now the same price that her OV was. Both are paying $1000 for 2. Why on earth should Bob get the amenities simply because he booked the room outright vs. Jane who "may or may not" simply because she was upgraded?? If both are paying $1000, then both should get the amenities. Am I missing something?

Just off the Dream, booked spa balcony. On our first trip to the spa we were checked off a list and given wristbands so they did go by list in addition to our cabin assignment. Spa staff was checking randomly for wristbands throughout the week and I noted on the last day that several were asked to leave the t-pool that had spa robes and yellow towels.

This information comes from GoCCL.com which contains all of their booking information. Per their rules those who are upgraded are not eligible for the spa perks that come with the room.

Important Things to Know

Spa staterooms are only available to guests who pay for spa staterooms or suites. In the event that guests are upgraded into the Spa staterooms, they will not be eligible for the additional amenities.

•Only the 1st and 2nd guests in a Spa stateroom will receive the access and amenities; 3rd and 4th guests and are not entitled to spa access and amenities.

•18 is the minimum age for body treatments and use of the Thermal Suite and Thalassotherapy Pool.

•Hair, nails, facial services and the fitness center can be enjoyed by guests of 13 years and older, provided they are accompanied by their parent or guardian for service and booking.

•Charges apply for the Thalassotherapy Pool and Thermal Suite areas for those guests in Non-Spa staterooms.

Precisely! I paid $1100 plus for my OV, then upgraded to a spa balcony, which is $800 plus....don't get me wrong, I will truly enjoy the balcony:D...but will enjoy it more, if I get to use the spa!;)

I called Carnival this afternoon to ask them about this subject. They replied that we are absolutely entitled to all of the Spa Cabin perks even though we were upgraded. The upgrade was given to us in lieu of OBC when I noticed a price drop after final payment.
