Brian Raine Posted April 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2011 Maybe they are trying to ape Azamara,Princess and P&O each has taken an old"R" ship for the "smaller discerning cruise". The Adonis (P&O) Royal Princess Azamara Quest/Journey are of a similar size to this "new " Costa charter.
CruiseAdict218 Posted April 5, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Or it's already being crewed by the pirates. Ron lol Costa is using the Grand Voyager in their fleet mainly because they own it, indirectly that is. The Adonis (P&O) Royal Princess Azamara Quest/Journey are of a similar size to this "new " Costa charter. Makes sense and soon Hapag-Lloyd(Sorry if I misspelled) will have Oceania's Insignia for a two year charter probably until there next newly built ship is complete
Brian Raine Posted April 5, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Or have Carnival finally run out of pennies for new builds. All Costa boats are built at FinnCantari (?) in Itlay , maybe the subsidies are being withdrawn.

All Costa boats are built at FinnCantari (?) in Itlay , maybe the subsidies are being withdrawn. Pennies don't seem to be a problem for Costa because the group has two new ships being built by Fincantieri: The Costa Favolosa will come out in June of this year and the Costa Fascinosa in May 2012. In addition three new ships are presently under construction in Germany for Costa's German subsidiary, AIDA.;)

Brian Raine Posted April 6, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 6, 2011 G.M.T Now they can have an Octoberfest booze up on the AIDA ships, all year around. They will be shut down when in dock most likely, can you imagine the Customs.Immigration boys asking for a sample. Many moons ago I worked with the offshore oil support boats, our customs Officer would come aboard sample the duty free cigars and alcohol then lock up the "bonded store".Just think of all of the profit they can make, once in international waters no duty no tax to pay whooppeee Mr Carnival
Goldryder Posted April 23, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2011 Grand Voyager was in Malaga when I was there aboard Costa Victoria, she is actually a very nice looking vessel of around the same size as Allegra, so should make a good running mate for her whilst Costa Marina is off down in Mauritius. Voyager will have a full Costa crew and she will be repainted into full Costa livery...the dancing figures on her sides should not be there... sjpo Posted July 18, 2011 #13 Share Posted July 18, 2011 The latest on this topic is that Costa is confirming that the Costa Marina will leave the fleet as from November 2011 and will be replaced on some of her cruises by the Grand Voyager. The Marina has been advertised as 'for sale' for at least two years now. maybe somebody finally decided to buy her. Would it be Louis? Would it be an Asian group? All speculations at the moment. Unfortunately it seems that the Voyager will not replace the Marina's Xmas and New Year's cruises (Mediterranean and Atlantic Islands) which were long ones, but will only operate on the Red Sea :-(
