Underwatr Posted December 19, 2011 #26 Share Posted December 19, 2011 That's good news. Note that the OP is from last April, so perhaps Cunard only meant that they'd re-assess the OBC benefit on a year-by-year basis. The original press release from Nov 2010 (which I always provide to my TA when requesting the OBC) doesn't mention an end date, although it may not apply to every fare. BeardedGuy Posted December 21, 2011 #27 Share Posted December 21, 2011 Just read about this the other day and called Cunard on Monday morning. They gave me a FAX number and said send a copy of the DD-214 and you will get the $250 credit posted within a week. That will be a very nice Christmas present and leave me a bit more to throw away at the Blackjack table!

When on board credit is applied to your on board account, you may use this against any purchases on board. This includes items purchased from any of the shops, in the spa and salon on treatments, on photography services, laundry, shore excursions, beverages from the bar, restaurant cover charges and hotel and dining charges (automatic tips). On board credit may not be used against medical facilities, artwork, ad hoc gratuities, local currency, casino chips or credits or any other kind of gambling. On board credit is non refundable
Underwatr Posted December 21, 2011 #29 Share Posted December 21, 2011 But money (in one's wallet) is fungible - if Cunard will pick up $250 of spa visits, wine, shore excursions, etc. then we can spend a like amount elsewhere whether it can be paid from free OBC or not... Classiccruiser777 Posted December 23, 2011 Author #30 Share Posted December 23, 2011 I spoke with Cunard (US) today and was told the military OBC program has been extended to June of 2013.
MCC retired Posted December 29, 2011 #31 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I can confirm that the Military Onboard Credit has been extended.:) I just received confirmation for my July 1 2012 QM2 5 night cruise which was originally denied ,as being beyond the original Spring 2012 termination. It's only $50 for less than 6 days but so be it.:) Did not have to resubmit paperwork as Cunard had it on record from my 2011 TA . It's not automatic , you still have to request it. Just a request to militarybenefit@cunard.com worked.:)
Underwatr Posted December 29, 2011 #32 Share Posted December 29, 2011 Did not have to resubmit paperwork as Cunard had it on record from my 2011 TA.Are you booking directly with Cunard? I've had to fax the same docs for three consecutive cruises (#1 and #3 with the same discount TA, #2 directly with Cunard). I've always thought that they should be able to associate my status with my CWC number once I proved it the first time...
MCC retired Posted December 29, 2011 #33 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I booked with a large cruise TA. However I requested the OBC on my own with Cunard. Since it does not affect cruise pricing , no need to go thru your TA for this unless you want to.
Underwatr Posted December 30, 2011 #34 Share Posted December 30, 2011 OK, that's helpful. Thanks. My understanding was that the cruise line would not communicate with you regarding your booking if you're booked through a TA. In my case working through the TA for the benefit gives me evidence of the military OBC via the TA's paid invoice showing a total OBC that includes the applied military OBC. ednria Posted January 6, 2012 #35 Share Posted January 6, 2012 Thanks to this post, I contacted my TA, who provided me with an email address to Cunard. I provided a copy of the front and back of my retirement ID card, and today received new booking confirmations, thru my TA, crediting me with the OBC for both our crossings in Aug/Oct of this year. memory-minus Posted January 12, 2012 #36 Share Posted January 12, 2012 I spoke with Cunard this evening (my partner is a US Navy veteran) and was quoted a $100 OBC benefit, not $250. We're not complaining, but all the posts in this thread mention $250. Does it differ based on stateroom category?
MCC retired Posted January 12, 2012 #37 Share Posted January 12, 2012 The difference is cruise length. From $50 for 6 days or less to $250 for the longer cruises. Nothing to do with category booked.
Underwatr Posted January 12, 2012 #38 Share Posted January 12, 2012 It's probably time to post the original press release on the offer again. (Similar or same offering for UK residents but I don't know where this is documented). http://www.cunard.com/About-Cunard-Line/News-Room/Cunard-News/?art=6534 The same terms are currently in effect. The Line's military personnel on board credit programme is available to active military personnel plus retired and disabled military veterans with proper verification as follows: * Active personnel currently serving in the following service divisions: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, Canadian National Defense (military verification certificate). * Retired Personnel defined as: Enlisted personnel or officers with a minimum of 20 years of service, medically retired or 100-percent disabled (blue or tan uniformed ID card/Canadian white N.D. 21 ID card). * Veterans with an Honourable Discharge serving a minimum of two years or six months in an active war zone in any of the United States service divisions listed above or Canadian National Defense (DD 214 plus current photo ID). The on board credit amount is $50 for voyages six days in length or less, $100 for voyages of seven to 13 days, or $250 for voyages of 14 days or longer, offered on a per stateroom basis.
