cheaper. Register under the US and you have to abide by US Labor Laws.

 

NCL tried it a few years ago for one of their ship out of hawaii and have since gone back to another country for registration.

 

*Correction they still have the pride of america. I read in the WSJ that they were going to change the registration of the ship due to costs.

NCL had three ships sailing to Hawaii that were US flagged to avoid the legal issues pointed out above. The costs were so prohibitive that they had to reassign/reflag two...
