I thought they were free in the casino when you had them punch your card ????

We got ours free in the casino. They are a different style to the ones they sell. Our casino ones were not as long, and black curly plastic. If someone can tell me how to post a photo, I would

We always pack our clothes in several of those giant sized zip lock bags. That way, if the airlines go through your luggage, it doesn't get too badly messed up. Also, at the end of the cruise you can use one for damp or dirty clothes. We also bring a bungy cord and have used it to secure a case of water/soda to our rolling carry on bag when embarking and have used it on the balcony as well.

I have been doing that for over ten years. We use to bareboat sail and would fly into some small islands and they went thru everything in your suitcase. It was so nice to have an organized suitcase when they finished. Some of those people never looked very friendly and wouldn't say a word to you so it was so nice that they didn't have to dig everything out.

Some people had such a mess afterwards. I remember one lady had he box of tampax fall on the floor.

and I always bring tons of empty ziplock bags - I use them for everything.

I dont understand why so many people are soo confused as to why to put a night light in the bathroom!

its not to see the way to the bathroom its to not have to endure the savagely bright light in the middle of the night :)

I use a magnetic white board on my door so fellow passengers can say hi! or tell me where they are from!!!!!

Here are a couple of photos of the lanyard that we got on the Coral Princess in May. It was not the typical lanyard that we got on the Island in May 2009, but the stretchy, curly almost phone cord type style. It worked well for use in the casino but kind of cumbersome if you tried to use it around your neck. My husband used his to attach to a belt loop and then he put his card in his pocket.

I've found a great use for mine while traveling - I attach it to the cover of my Kindle so that I don't leave it in a pocket on a plane or something. I had a scare and thought that I had left my Kindle on the plane but hadn't. I decided right then and there that I needed to attach the Kindle to my body on future travel. I have a lighted Kindle cover so, I attached the lanyard ring to the stretchy elastic that holds the front and back together when closed. Then I clip the little clip to my shirt or belt loop or something on me. Works for me!

If you are arriving early or staying after the cruise,I found it helpful to have copies of my passport-I would leave the original in the hotel safe but carry a copy with me in foreign cities, then do the opposite once on the ship-always kept my passport with me on excursions just in case.

I collect the clear plastic boxy zipper bags that sheets, comforters, etc are package in. They are great for all kinds of packing needs. ;)

I also keep the plastic dry cleaning bags. Wrap everything from shoes to liquids in them. They are nice and slick too..so things don't wrinkle. If I have fresh dry cleaned items to pack, I leave on the wire hangers and bags ad just fold into suitcase. Come out perfect

From your friendly cruise critic store, for a whole $6!!! http://www.cruisecritic.com/store/product.cfm?ID=26

Also, I read on here several times that Princess wouldn't accept faxes for an egg-crate mattress topper. I faxed in one last week and called yesterday, it was received and was noted in our reservation, so it is prolly a "crap-shoot" Do both, if you really want one and don't want to worry about them running out!

Love all the secrets!

 But could you please tell me what an egg crate topper is? Is it like a memory foam topper? Please excuse my ignorance.

Hey, I didn't know what it was either until we had one on our first cruise. You are correct, it is a very thin foam topper. It kind of looks like an egg carton with all the dips in it.

Although it is made of foam, it probably isn't made of memory foam. Regardless, it does make the bed more comfortable. You can call Princess direct and ask them to have it on the bed in advance (I haven't read the whole thread so this may have been covered earlier.

I agree, I don't believe that it is memory foam.

If you want extra Patters just ask the steward for them. I get one set to mark up and one set for the scrapbook. I've also seen recommendations to use glow sticks, necklaces or bracelets as nightlights. They are cheap and can be put in multiple locations.

Love boards liks this - thanks for starting it!

No one has mentioned this, but there are motion detection night lights that only come on when you walk pass them. Plug it on an extension cord and place it on the floor near the bathroom, so that when you walk by, it will light your way to the bathroom so that you will not have to turn on the bathroom light, and even better, it will turn itself off so you can sleep without the light in your eyes.

And it takes up less room

My 1st cruise EVER is in Nov so I'm obsessed with this site! I read everything I can, I come on here at least once a day to see if I missed anything....It's kinda sad, I know ;)

There's nothing more exciting than your first cruise - have a wonderful time and hopefully you can enjoy many, many more!

Have just read through the whole brilliant thread on a rainy Sunday afternoon in the UK. Thank you to all the contributors.

Looking forward to our first Princess Cruise on the Emerald at New Year. Am going to keep trying different cruise lines till I find the perfect one!

Was a bit put off though, that Princess don't supply bath robes as standard.

This is only our 5th cruise, so we aren't experienced at all, but all the other cruise ships had bath robes as standard waiting in our stateroom, and this kind of worries me a bit as there is no option on my personaliser to pre request. I can't imagine not having a bathrobe.

Should I pack our own, therefore less shoes, or will there be enough to go round?

Go to your cruise personalizer. Under where your name is, click on Cruise Preference. Right under the title Onboard Preferences, you have the option of choosing to have a robe in your cabin. We always get one.

Your steward will bring you a robe if you request one. We also request robes on the Cruise Personalizer found on the Princess website. That increases the chance that the robe will be in the room when I get there.:)

I have always clicked on robe in the room on personalizer and NEVER have one in the room...but I always phone the room steward the second I get into my cabin to request 2 wine glasses, bucket of ice, 2 robes and the egg crate mattress topper and viola...usually the robes are being washed and so don't come until nite time turn down which is ok.

Interesting. We always request the robe on the personalizer on Princess and there has always been robes hanging in the closet when we enter the cabin. We also call Princess about a week prior to the cruise and request the egg crate topper and ask that they double clean the room for cigarette smoke. Both hubby and I are allergic to smoke. They do a great job. The only thing that we can't get done prior to the cruise is request the top sheet for the bed. For some reason, no one can take a request for that until you board.
