Advise me if I am wrong please

Recommended Posts

My family just booked a cruise for the month of June 2011 on the EOS. We booked a category M for X amount of dollars. We booked this one week ago I think it was on 4-11-11. Yesterday I noticed that a category K was $150.00 cheaper than what I paid for a M category. I called my TA for her to call Royal Carribbean and see if we can move up to the K category since it was cheaper. I know I can't get any money back and did not ask for the difference in money we just wanted the higher category since it was cheaper than what we paid. Royal told her that it was for new bookings only and that was the same story that Crown & Anchor told me too. I guess I was under the impression now that since they don't give you OBC if the price drops they would let you upgrade to another category even if the price was less than what we paid. I know if the category would have been $100.00 more I would be responsible for that but it was cheaper and we didn't ask for an upgrade plus money back. Sorry if it sounds confusing, but I am a little frustrated with the way it went down. We have cruised with Royal and Celebrity 24 times now and that didn't matter to them one bit. We will still enjoy the cruise no matter what we end up with but to me its the principal behind the way they do things now.

If it is a "new booking " only you can not get any OBC or upgrade...period...but often that new booking will be just an ordinary booking a few days later if they did not have a good response...keep watching... we had an $849 D on an 13 day and a $999 JS came up- no prob. because it did not say "new booking"

This is great info. I haven't been checking back when a special says "new booking only". I will from now on. Thanks!

$150.00 per person would be a pretty good incentive for me.

After final payment, you are never going to get any money back unless you just (within 48 hours of the lower price) booked.

Any rate that comes up as a "sales event" or "special" tends to be for new bookings only. Once that tag falls off, it is fair game for upgrading.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Did not know to look for the "new booking" note. Will watch over the next couple of weeks and see if they drop that clause and make it the price for anyone. If so we will ask for the change again. Reason we wanted the "k" is that it is in a slightly better "postion" on the ship than where we are today. Plus it is a whole 10 square feet bigger, so we can pack one more pair of socks...hehehe :d.

Like i said before, we will have fun no matter what. Thanks for the replies!

What date?

Look for an ocean view or balcony on sale. If it's more, RCL will take your money for it
