sun~ Posted April 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2011 My husband just got a cheque in the mail from Carnival Corp. for a balance that was left on his casino account. I was pretty sure we had cleared it out on the last day. We were on the Eurodam on Jan. 22 for the blues cruise. I am sure I have left a dollar or two in my casino accounts in the past (neither of us never spend too much). This cheque was for $40. I am surprised they sent the cheque. Has this happened to anyone else?
kakalina Posted April 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2011 No. In fact the casino even called our cabin on the last day to remind us to check out of the casino. They did say any monies not cleared out would not be refunded at a later time. I think it is great they took the time and effort to send you a check. sun~ Posted April 28, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted April 28, 2011 We were just surprised to get this in the mail. There is a nice letter attached, it is from Carnival's head office, so they must do the end accounting for all their brands I guess. I don't know if hubby will have an issue cashing it, we know it is drawn from a US bank so I hope it can get cashed by our Canadian bank!
sail7seas Posted April 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2011  Why wouldn't your bank accept a U.S. check? Of course, you get hit with conversion fee.
iriemon Posted April 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2011 We have also gotten the same phone call in our room on the last night. I don't understand why you can charge money against your account in the casino but they can't credit it back to your account. Seems like it would be much easier and wouldn't have to wait in line. BoiseIdahoSpud Posted April 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2011 On our recent Noordam cruise, (mar 28-apr 7) we befriended the onboard marketing manager who is responsible for the shops, casino, and spa. He told us that any remaining balance in excess of $10 that is left on a casino account will be forwarded to your home address in the form of a check. Amounts less than $10 are forfeited if not claimed on the last night of the cruise.
Rare kazu Posted April 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2011 Wow, I didn't know they did send a cheque for credits over $10. That is pretty decent actually. I can understand why they don't for the smaller amounts - just would not be worth the administrative time, etc. I always thought that if you didn't clear out your account it was lost money. Quite decent, actually:)
