Three Questions about CLASSIC MEMBER Benefits of Captains Club

I have three questions about the CLASSIC MEMBER level benefits of the Captains Club. I have read that ...

(1) There is complimentary access to the onboard LOYALTY HOST during your cruise. What does this person do?

(2) There is a premium onboard DISCOUNT BOOKLET filled with special offers during each cruise. What type of discounts are we talking about? (3) There is an exclusive Captain's Club celebration event onboard. Is this a big or small affair? Does the Captain or Officiers attend?

Thanks for your help.

The coupon book is nothing too exciting until you reach Elite. We usually find 2-3 of the coupons useful. There is a $5 match play at the casino coupon. A free specialty coffee coupon for use if you dine in a specialty restaurant. A small percentage off a bottle of wine, internet package, spa treatment and a few others. Most of the coupons are for a small percentage off something rather than for a free item.

The Captain's Club celebration was nice on Equinox. The Captain and several senior officers attended, there were free cocktails and some nice food (i.e. sushi, dessert crepe station, chocolate covered fruit etc.).

I am not sure about the Loyalty Host. I think she is an officer who Captain Club members can go to for help or questions on various issues, but I have not directly utilized this person before so I can't say much.

On our last cruise we were Classic Members of the Captain's Club.

The coupon "book" turned out to be a single sheet - and I had to go to the host to get one - her desk was separate from but in the same area as Guest Services (I think that's the name). First she told me that the room steward had the coupons and I said our steward was fabulous and I was sure he would have put them in our room if he knew we should have received them - so she looked and suddenly "found" a sheet. Turned out just like Gonzo report - nothing special! Somehting for the casino (which we usually don't go to) maybe internet ( which, whenever I did have time, wasn't working!), and I can't remember what else. It's worth getting the coupons since but don't plan on anything great! (Don't misunderstand me - the lack of "great" coupons didn't ruin our cruise - we had a fantastic time on the Constellation - so much so that we booked our next cruise while on the high-seas!!)

The Captain's Club celebration was very nice. One evening, instead of the usual Elite Members gathering in Michael's Club, the celebration was held in the night club and ALL Captain Club members were invited. There was a receiving line, the Captain and a few officers, drinks were served and snacks passed. It was a really nice time and fun for us on CC to have an "extra" get together!!

The coupon book hasn't been a book for quite some time -- in an effort to save paper, it is now a single sheet of coupons.

The Loyalty Host is another name for the Captain's Club Host (or Hostess). This person can help with booking future cruises when the regular booking agent on board is busy, coordinates the Captain's Club events (when you become Elite you'll have a daily cocktail party and a morning breakfast and the host/hostess is usually there for all or part of those events), and other Captain's Club activities.

Sounds like a fun event, will DH and I be able to bring the children w/ us (13, 12, 11, 4) They are not CC members yet but we are.

I'm new here, I'm doing my first cruise with Celebrity and I already had one with Royal Caribbean and I'm thinking of enrolling in the captains club, but I have a question, is this completely free to enroll? or I have to pay some kind of membership?

You need to be Platinum or Emerald (at least 30 cruise points) in RCI's Crown & Anchor to get reciprocal Select status in Captain's Club. When you're Diamond (80 cruise points) in C&A you become Elite in CC. There is no reciprocal status for Gold status in C&A. Note that the cruise credits earned for sailing on Celebrity will not add to your cruise points on RCI, or vice versa.

Decided that the $600+ more per person veranda vs. OV pricing for one of our upcoming cruises was more than we wished to spend for a voyage with only 2 sea days. We booked within 5 days of the itinerary being published, so there was availability for this upgrade on a Solstice class vessel.

We were able to use our Classic one category upgrade to book an '07' cabin, plus saved $200 with the EBB.

Current pricing of the only remaining '07' cabin is $579 pp more than what we booked at! It will be our first time in an OV and from what I've read, these OVs have larger interior spaces than veranda cabins.

We always took our kids with us. They had been on every X cruise we had so we figured they qualified. Generally the event was held right before dinner so everyone was all spruced up and pretty.

This is where =X= needs a little work. We just got off of the Oasis and the Diamond level booklet (not sheet) was very impressive and actually had coupons that were worth using.

Elite is equivalent of Diamond on X, the elite benefits on X are outstanding. Elites receive a coupon for 90 minutes of free internet time, coupons for a fair amount of free laundry and access to special breakfast each morning and a cocktail hour each evening. Nothing wrong with X's Elite benefits, most find them superior to RCI's Diamond perks. Biggest beef is no balcony/suite discount on X for Elites.

Nothing against the Elite perks, I just liked the booklet from RC better than the sheet of coupons that you get from =X=. The perks themselves are great. I know, I know, save a tree.
