newonboard69 Posted May 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2011 I understand PG has some type of ceremony for those that have anniversaries or want to renew vows? Has anyone done this? If so what is it like? I understand that it costs $250/$500?
Emdee Posted May 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2011 The anniversary ceremony does not cost anything but in case this has changed since Regent days you can check this out. They usually gather newly weds and those celebrating their anniversaries at sunset in La Palette. Place beautiful flower leis on your heads and say a lovely Tahaitian prayer. Very nicely done. You are also wrapped in a tahitian wedding blanket and photos are taken. Traditionally this used to be in Bora Bora so the scene behind is fabulous. PG cruises is also very good with doing something special for your anniversary if you so desire. Just have your agent tell them the date.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted May 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2011 There are two things. There is a honeymoon/anniversary party/ceremony, in La Palette, at the aft of the ship one evening. That is included, no charge. You can arrange, at cost, a special, private ceremony to renew your vows, or celebrate your wedding, whatever. I believe the captain performs this. I've never done this. Annagon24 Posted May 16, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2011 Wendy the Wanderer, Is this a recent information? Our travel agent called Paul Gauguin about anniversary and was told that if we want anything done, we have to purchase their $250 package... He did tell them that our anniversary fell on May 31st. We are on May 25th sailing. Thanks Anna
bethcooks4u Posted May 16, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 16, 2011 We are using the PG TA and they first said it's $250 but then I called back and asked about the wedding blanket ceremony and was told that that particular thing is announced in the onboard paper and then people who want to do this just show up. They don't do anything about it with the TA's so we just have to wait.
FlightMedic555 Posted May 16, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2011 The "basic" ceremony was not charge and while it was our anniversary the ceremony coincided with a shore excursion and we missed it.
Emdee Posted May 16, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 16, 2011 When you get onboard go to reception and give them the details - they will slot you in and you will get an invite. These things some times change so maybe its just a ceremony now but we did get an invite.
MightyQuinn Posted May 16, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 16, 2011 The special get-together was held in La Palette when the ship was in Bora Bora on our recent 7-nite Societies and 14-nite Marquesas cruises. Here is the announcement from Ia Orana: 5:15 PM - HONEYMOON AND ANNIVERSARY GET-TOGETHER For all couples celebrating their special milestone! Join your Cruise Director Michael, International Hostess Hina and Les Gauguines for a toast and our unique Tahitian blessing.
Emdee Posted May 17, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2011 Mighty isnt Hina a sweetheart. She always gives us a big hug when she sees us. I am so glad she is now an International Hostess. Were Raina and Twaree on board?
MightyQuinn Posted May 17, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 17, 2011 Hina is a real gem. She became International Hostess at the beginning of our 2nd cruise when Almina left to return to Europe. Not sure if it's permanent or not. Hina did a terrific job at that in addition to all the great stuff she does as Head Gauguine. Her dancing is mesmerizing. Raina was also aboard. PG has recently hired a former Miss Tahiti to be a Gauguine. Drop-dead gorgeous and multi-talented. Ya gotta love it!
Rare Texed Posted May 17, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 17, 2011 Were Raina and Twaree on board? She visited us here at our home in Texas one week a couple of years ago. :)
